Ethical questions are always great topics of discussion IMHO.

I don’t go by rude or not rude personally in such minor situations, but more the theme of aware vs unconscious. Most folks are utterly unconscious about most stuff happening around them—unintentional blindness—that at best you can push them ethically towards a base ‘golden rule’ of behavior and hope for the best.

I take pride in the little things I do to make other folks experience life better. It sounds like you might too but if you want my advice, I would not expect others to do so or concern yourself over such things.

When I see a toon at a bank portal, I would not occupy the same space if possible. What if they were going through cosmetics and wanted to see how stuff appeared? Some folks even stand on bank NPCs so it is harder to click on them, such as might happen in the HoH. I don’t care that they do it; I would not. Perhaps that player is a stressed out dad like me and just trying to decompress a little, and doesn’t notice.

There are layers of thoughtfulness we can show others in a game and there aren’t exactly stakes/costs in such due to anonymity. Only when people intentionally do stuff to grief others do I take notice but even then I find it trivial and laugh it off, for what it is worth.

It's inconsiderate, tbh. I do my best not to clog public bankers.

The people I dislike are the ones who park their mounts over the banker (Green dragon specifically) and make it hard for people who don't use next key to click on the banker. This happens a lot in Harbor on all servers.

For me, I use the ship banker, and rarely have any issues at all with guild mates. :)

I like to summon my big Shrek-looking draco mount right before going to the bank, so I can park exactly on top of the banker and go AFK. And I come back every 10-15 min or so to nudge my view to the right. That way I don't get booted for being AFK too long.

Feel like this is a minor thing and more of a diamond rule violation than a golden rule violation, i.e. understanding how some others want to be treated. Holding the grudge has non-zero deficit of care as well, but minor as before.

I think your reaction is a little strong, but I too dislike it when there are people on top of me. I've never had someone come and stand of top of me, but whenever I go to a bank, I try and find an empty teller, and if there isn't one, I try to give people their space. Just common courtesy.

I guess it can be impolite, I try to dismount in the bank when I remember to but you can clip through anyone and use q+e to select vendors, doors, etc.

The only true griefing we'd ever seen in the last years was the IOD clicky that would summon a dino and you could hit it will dispell or break enchantment or what not to unleash a high CR mob in public spaces. Besides that, not much you can really do to be a griefer outside of a quest.

Now maybe I am being a bit precious here, and if so please say so, but if I am stood in an empty bank, no other players in the bank at all, and someone comes in and and just stands on top of me. I view that as being very rude and I will automatically view that person as an incredibly self centred person with absolutely no idea that a world exists outside of themselves. Am I right?
Yes, and they probably had wings too??

i never have issues just moving to avoid a minor annoyance. Honestly, i have like 20 bank toons that are all parked at, well, the bank. If I login one of these guys and he happens to be standing on somebody else, i move him out of courtesy, cause they were there first. Its kinda like selling stuff. sometimes people park chonky right there, so I stand on a tent and sell stuff. I dont sweat the small things. Just my take.

For me it really just comes down to how “real” you want the gaming experience to feel.

Interestingly enough, from the first hr l started playing l noticed myself moveing to avoid running into people and things before l even knew l could pass through some.

When that revaluation came around, it really didn’t change much.

Still found myself dodging to the side when someone was coming straight at me, jumping over people when l riding on mount etc etc.

And yeah, moving to side and adjusting not only at bank, but in tavern as well.

Doesn’t bother me what others may or may not want to do, but for me l think it was just understanding that if l let myself loose all concept of realism, the game would eventually just feel like a game, vs what it can be which is a nice escape to another world where you can do some neat stuff you can’t or don’t do here on planet Earth. 😃

Proper Etiquette at the bank, according to commonly observed behavior:

1) Activate Gelatinous Cube Pet
2) Ride in on your Chonkyist Mount
3) Find a popular teller
4) don't actually bother interacting with the bank
5) Logout, but do not confirm the dialog, so your game client stays up
6) Go find something to binge watch on your favorite streaming service

Being mounted while interacting with a banker is rude, IMHO. Most peak playing times, the bankers in the Harbor and the Hall of Heroes will be surrounded by players on dragons with their summoned pets dancing around.
If I must use that banker, I use the tab to select him even when hidden by someone's mount.
Most times I just use a banker in a location off the beaten path.
