Archeron champ. R10. Devs, this is through almost 500 PRR, and nearly 400% fort.

Love it. Never nerf stuff like this, we need to keep r10 at least somewhat challenging, with at least the possibility of things going catastrophically wrong.

Currently doing every quest r10 with a second account bard (puffpot) in tow. So "impossible" may be a bit of an overstatement.

Ranged is in a very good spot right now, and for high level raiding, being a melee dps is a bit hard to justify. They do more damage, and don't have to worry about getting hit as much. That being said, I have no plans on reincarnating to inquisitive, it's a game and fun is most important than optimization.

I think so too.
I'll leave the super strong characters to my friends and just enjoy my 2HS Paladin.
I finally managed to solo a few quests on R10.
I can't deal crazy damage and I'm not great with ranged weapons, but it's fun.

It kind of feels like grinding through an old Nes game. That challenge is what makes it enjoyable.

Acheron and Beast Mark champs have "Ignore Fortification" buff. You have to target them first with CC, instakill or burst them down with quickly.
All champs have their strengths and weaknesses. This is what makes the combat varied and interesting, especially as a melee.

Also, if you're a tank questing in R10s the biggest thing you can improve after HP, PRR and Fort is AC. Cant get crit if you cant get hit.

Yep, although it's not a pure tank, so only ~400 AC along with ~7k hp/~480 PRR.

I know those champs bypass fort; my point was that it's a good thing to have some monsters be able to do that.

Agreed, I want more Beast Mark champs. Perhaps devs could tweak the scaling to deliver more champs with more skulls...maybe have all monsters be champs on R11.

If they gave us an R11 it would rejuvenate a lot of folks to try and be a world first for each dungeon.

At night I dream that one day will get an R13 difficulty that is nutters insane with new types of reapers, one of which is a re-skined Malica with a whip...and sure maybe that's the Ambien, but we'd love it!

The card quests mechanic also would be cool to have in R10s. Healer, raiser, bubble champs.

We have a rule for R10 TS (which we run every friday).....if you want to live...dont get hit. :) So far our record for hardest hit was a guildy who was lucky enough to get hit by Sorjak...right after another killed a vengenge reapoer.... he ended up 138K below zero....and just 5 more DR probably woulda prevented that :ROFLMAO:

Absolutely. I think the bigger issue is just that it doesnt matter until you're in high reaper...in all non-push difficulties, champs' bonuses dont really make enough of a difference to force players to change their playstyle. They still wont ever actually kill you, and you can kill them just by overwhelming application of DPS, same as everyone else. Reapers make you kinda pay attention somewhat, or at least certain reapers do.

Yeah this is a far better model for increasing mob difficulty in a tactical way. Champs that are force multipliers rather than just force additives, and require you to both figure out and execute the best counter-strategy to bring them down effectively.

Of course the more they'd lean into this, the more they'll expose the very poor hard-targeting system in DDO, so that's a secondary issue to increasing target prioritization.

There are stronger ranged. INQ is just ridiculously easy to build and thus ubiquitous.
at endgame theres really not anything stronger than inquis, and with how things are assuming you are high skull raiding inquis is brought not only for the safety of being ranged but also bc the dps is dumb lol. it is almost the same as when everyone was playing bow builds a few years ago

Makes sense, yea I have friends who play other ranged builds and they also stack up very well. I'm guessing a lot of it is that you can basically get any past life with it, I've seen some kind of silly inquis splits that...well...were still crushing it.

IIRC, the difference between a good split with good gear and trees versus a bad split is on the order of 20~30% at cap.

BUT, the carry aspect was nerfed pretty noticeably. It's still OK and can be nicer than other options; eg. I recently used INQ from 8 to 20 because of ratcatcher on my current ranged kinda similar to the reason I sometimes use VKF in heroic because of sky pirate. Heroic has weapons that literally make a build.
