Coming back from a year

Just honest opinions. I was an active player since beta and took several hiatuses. Mainly because my social circle kept leaving the game.

I had 2 completionist chatacters before last I took a 1 year+ break. Now they both need past lives in racials to get back and both meed 2-3 archtypes and some iconics. Mostly complet completionist. My friend wuit with only a fee past loves and wants to restart again.

Shoild we look at restarting anew on one of the 64 bit servers? What would you do? Just trying to rationalize my return and what that might look like? I appreciate the realistic input. I soent a decade getting to this point, but I want my buddy to have the best play experience.

You can always downgrade yourself a bit so you don't overpower your friend. Nobody wants to spend all their time in the game being carried baggage.

You're going to need more exp for the first few lives (Is it 7 now? They spread out the increased exp but I forget how many lives it is). So, you could run a new character for the first few. Another option, if you want to run pots/the occasional extra couple of hours to stay even on levels: Don't use any of your saved items for the first few lives. Grind out leveling gear with them, use rangen items etc, you'll still be strong and able to carry due to game knowledge and pastlives but won't be completely overpowered in comparison.

Let him make a character or pick up where he left off, and you make a new toon in conjunction. And run your old completionists separate to avoid them feeling less than useful in conparison.

If you have a 3 lifer, use that character to open elite otherwise use your main. Do up to harbor on reaper for them to get some points. When they start doing stop reaper. I help my friends and I see that playing reaper frustrates them. I only have 5 lives and for me reaper in heroic up to r3 is easy. R1 for them is terror.
Elite is fine. Accelerate their first TRs if you see they can't handle epic. Usually, builds fail at epic and TRing is the best option.
By the time they are 3rd life start full reaper but don't use all your points as they will get overwhelmed by your ease.
Don't use your best items, don't put enchantments try to keep it interesting for you ☺️.

Well, now is probably the best time to get back in the game: the servers are populated again, contrary to the 32-bit servers that often where a ghosttown. And there is the GATHERYOURPARTY2025 code in case you didn't have most content yet.

Playing a support character that can dish out some damage would be a good option, like an artificer, druid or a cleric.

Just don't make the same mistake you made last time, the mistake peeps had been warning about for decades: those who only play with a closely group of friends will unavoidably run of out people to play with. Time to open your social circile a bit.

That advice is also true in real life, for everyone.

Sun Domain Cleric, best for support spells healing and SLA DPS. You can then have your friend as front line or whatever role suits their fancy and you can back them up.

Thanks all for the help. Yeah I agree I am going to keep my 2 mains separate and just take one of my older characters along with him. I am VIP, always just kept it going, and have no problem opening elite for him. Yes he missed the coupon code last go around and wants to try this go around and see if this will help him motivate to get back in the game. I just did not want to ruin the experience for him and frankly he does not like reaper much. But I want him to start challenging it some on low skills leveling. It’s been awhile since he attempted reaper. And I think he still has in his head when mobs were so inflated either high saves and HPs going back to the days, when Gianthold became Epic (Epic Elite).

If keeping your "mains separate" means going to different servers, just know that the first character you pack is going to be taking everything that is joint . That's everything in the shared bank, all mounts, and all pets.

5th, 6th and 7th Lifes uses old second life EXP around 2.85M
From 8th Life and beyond uses the usual thrid life EXP around 3.8M

Make sure to grind off the lower level favor quickly to take advantage of the 99 store point expansions.
