Cormyr is Opening to Everyone!

Cormyr is our 64-bit game world that recently concluded its Lanterns in the Mists event, and during that time we opened Cormyr to everyone for a while. We are happy to announce that starting on Wednesday, April 30th, Cormyr will open permanently for access by all players! We are also making Cormyr our Recommended World for new installations of the Dungeons & Dragons Online game client.

All of the characters you already have on Cormyr are there. In the future we intend to offer transfers to and from Cormyr once our updated Character Transfer technology is ready to go. Expect more information soon about our new worlds in the United States and Europe, and our plans for transfers to these worlds from our 32-bit game worlds!

For our VIPs who have come to call Cormyr home, we want to keep thanking you for your support! Starting on Wednesday, April 30th, through July 6th, VIPs will receive an additional +5% VIP XP (in addition to the +10% VIP XP they already receive) and once per day Gold Daily Dice rolls – on Cormyr ONLY!

We know many of you have enjoyed the improved game experience on our 64-bit world and we look forward to sharing more information about our future servers soon!

This is good news imo. Thank you! Looking forward to continuing my Cormyr journey. Thank you for the VIP extras, too!

Glad you finally figured out Cormyr was dead without the restrictions lifted.

In the end killing the whole fresh start idea is better than watching the whole server die.

I guess I'll log into the server for the free gold rolls.

I think opening it up is a good move. I personally would prefer to not see "exclusive" servers. If you want give the VIP peeps some kind of benefit, another way would be mo'betta.

The timing of this kind of sucks though too.. It would have been better if this would have been mentioned closer to the end of the free access period (as incoming). I suspect some people have either deleted their characters or have been bumped from the guilds they may have joined.

So when the new 64bit servers are released and we get our free transfers 100% of people will choose Cormyr because they have 2 or 3 months worth of gold roll freebies there and zero on any of the other servers so why would you bother?

Plus Cormyr will be full of new players and the current people who despise lag to the point that they are willing to start over. So the population will be enormous.

Maybe Europeans will choose the Europe server but I imagine we end up with one super server and the rest are Wayfinders.

Its kinda sad, I had called the cormyr death when they had announced the original opening for the test runs.. Now they are reopening it after everyone went back to home servers.. It's kinda of a slap in the face the way I see it.

You say that like a megaserver would be a bad thing (and if they launch a couple of other 64 bit servers that get shut down later, you can use them for a quick favor farm and then forget they exist.

If we end up with horrible lag and further "lag reduction updates" which do nothing to stop lag and everything to annoy people then its a bad thing.

If my group are able to transfer to Cormyr then for sure we would do that over any other option. Because any other option simply doesnt offer anything at all.

If you start encouraging character transfers to Cormyr and make it the default server for new players, you will be killing the game for a lot of older players unless you also allow the transfer of guilds and all guild assets. We will not abandon our guild assets to start over on a new server. Why ? The guild is a lot smaller than it used to be and it will take forever to restore assets. If you drive down server population any more than it all ready is, it will be much harder to put together raid groups. Result : I'll find some other place to spend my time and money. I think i speak for a LOT of older players here.

They're working on that.

They’ve stated many times they’re looking into how they will allow transfer of all those things.

Old servers will all have small pop if any once new servers go up, as most will transfer to the new servers.

Interesting.
But, for now, I doubt it is actually good news.

It might also means that instead of VIP Cormyr + let's say, 2 new open for everybody servers (+ EU server of course) we'll end up with just Cormyr + 1 new server both open to everyone.
Which means they don't expect that many players would attend the transfer so there is no need for many new servers. And why do they expect this ? Maybe because they're stuck in that "we are working on transfer everything" process and can't get it resolved ?🤔🔮 We've already heard that Astral Shards might stay server-based and won't transfer after all. 🤐

And zero sensible reason for anyone to go to anywhere other than Cormyr since it has a 9 month head start on the economy.

It's a VIP only server. No, it's available to everyone. It's a fresh start server. Um actually, transfers will be available.

Why is it so hard to plan this stuff out and not repeatedly contradict yourselves about how all this is going to work?

Please get your house into order and give us consistent and reliable information. I didn't think it would be possible to turn server transfers into a dumpster fire before they had even started but as always SSG has found a way.
