Could you Give new to game VIP players a few codes?

I think new players coming into the game should get a few packs free to get them started! Expecting someone to spend the money for DDO points for all the past packs is not realistic. If they get VIP maybe give them a code good one time per account for some of the older stuff. It would make it easier to keep players in the game longer as active members. IMHO

If you're VIP you have access to ALL content except the expansions. As far as F2p players, they have access to over 76 free lvl 1 - 10 dungeons.

I meant the expansions, sorry. All our guild have nearly all the expansions and can run whatever they want on Guild Night. We just got a new member who does not have them yet. A few of the older ones would help them get started with us as they buy DDO points and items for game play. Limited money all at once is a thing.

The plan you should have is to run the content they do have when you can and save up the store points for sale events. The big one being Anniversary event. That way they can still play with you, get their bearings and not shell out a ton of money to start with.

Content older than X years should automatically become free. It is ridiculous that they are asking full price for 20 year old quests now.

You clearly either haven't looked at the DDO Market in years or have no memory of what these expansions cost when they were new.

It's rather hard to consider a new VIP hard-done-by due to the lack of a few old expansions that often go on sale for 99 DDO Points. You really think raids are the place new players should be starting? And even if it were, aren't 20 immediately-accessible raids enough to get their feet wet?

I used AI to generate this list because frankly I couldn't be bothered to do the legwork.

"Here is the full comprehensive list of all 20 VIP-accessible raids in Dungeons & Dragons Online. This list includes all raids tied to standard adventure packs (unlocked automatically with VIP) as well as base Free-to-Play raids.

Free-to-Play Base Raids
These raids are available to all players but are fully included in your VIP access:
  • Tempest's Spine (Heroic Level 10 / Legendary Level 32)
  • The Chronoscope (Heroic Level 6 / Epic Level 21)

Standard Adventure Pack Raids (VIP Unlocked)
These raids are unlocked natively through your VIP membership because they belong to standalone adventure packs:
  • Plane of Night (Heroic Level 10 / Epic Level 22) – Vault of Night pack
  • The Titan Awakes (Heroic Level 12) – The Restless Isles pack
  • Zawabi's Revenge (Heroic Level 12 / Epic Level 22) – Demon Sands pack
  • The Reaver's Fate (Heroic Level 14) – Ruins of Gianthold pack
  • The Shroud (Heroic Level 17 / Legendary Level 32) – The Vale of Twilight pack
  • Ascension Chamber (Heroic Level 17) – The Necropolis, Part 4 pack
  • Hound of Xoriat (Heroic Level 18 / Legendary Level 37) – The Vale of Twilight pack
  • A Vision of Destruction (Heroic Level 18 / Legendary Level 37) – The Vale of Twilight pack
  • Tower of Despair (Heroic Level 20) – The Devils of Shavarath pack
  • The Lord of Blades (Heroic Level 20 / Legendary Level 32) – Secrets of the Artificers pack
  • The Master Artificer (Heroic Level 20 / Legendary Level 32) – Secrets of the Artificers pack
  • The Fall of Truth (Epic Level 25) – Gianthold Feast pack
  • Fire on Thunder Peak (Epic Level 30) – The Ruins of Thunderholme pack
  • Temple of the Deathwyrm (Epic Level 30) – The Ruins of Thunderholme pack
  • Defiler of the Just (Epic Level 30) – Trials of the Archons pack
  • Riding the Storm Out (Epic Level 30) – Dragonblood Prophecy pack
  • Too Hot to Handle (Legendary Level 32) – Master Artificer / Sharn Docks follow-up pack
  • Skeletons in the Closet (Legendary Level 32) – The Isle of Dread level cap follow-up"

If, somehow, the lack of more instantly-available raids than this fails to 'keep players in the game', I feel it's likely that more wouldn't help.

Per usual, it did alright, until it didn't.

Is chronoscope f2p?

Anyhow, I'm premium and never been vip.
I'm against all the free codes the give. Yes it is great, but I believe that it would be better instead of the free codes every year to convert a few quests per year to f2p.
Well the first bunch would be a big one, but I think it would be better for player retaining to have a yearly conversion to f2p some adventure pack.

About expansion packs, I do believe that VIP players should get access to the trove expansions. Clearly the trove expansions should get an addition of an expansion every 2 or so years.

Or VIP could have a constant discount on the store for the Trove expansions let's set it to 30%? Let's not forget that this is a permanent buy instead of just access.

Cheers

Thanks for pointing out the ones that were BS. I seldom get a fully correct answer from AI on literally anything I ask.

Still a lengthy list.

I also think this would be a better approach. Problem I see from their perspective is that the moment there is enough content to get from 1-20 without buying ANY packs to avoid excessive repetition, the incentive for people to sub drops.

For 1-20? F2p first few lives gets you easily to 12-14: before it slowdowns. Just getting GH and demon sands you are good for 18 and then it is a bit tricky as you are better with sharn expansion than anything else.

So with 3 packs you can reach 20 pretty easily for the first few lives. I'm slow at progression so max I do 2-3 TR per year. I try to get max favor for example. But for those that will rush, even f2p has enough stuff to get to 20 TR and restart for a year until the free code will be available.

I think their reasoning is not the incentive for the TR train. But to somehow hinder multiboxing. My main account (2018 I started playing) even in few months at that time as a f2p I got to get with DDOs several packages. It is not hard to mine DDOs. I paid then the minimum 5e to get the starting pack and I had more than I need to have fun all the way to 20.

For 20-30 it is more complicated though. And I believe it should. (Then I had to get the first 2 expansions to have access to EDs and content. Then I need to add VoN to actually get tokens etc).

The interesting thing was that earning gradually the content was keeping me interested in the game. Now I have almost everything and I just wait to gather a lot of ddos to get the next expansion I'm missing. It significantly reduces my interest in playing and gathering points. But I'm a content oriented player. For me accessing all content is what interests me and not getting xxx past lives.

I'm sad they haven't managed to make challenges something that players want to play... I did some at a long past to get Artie... Maybe challenges should be modernized she become the new leg. content.

Cheers

I definitely think VIPs should get a discount on xpacs, even if it's just the point version. Yeah they get 500 pts a month but ooooldass xpacs still cost 2500 pts.
