Crafting glitch?

I have a shield, to which I've applied a Mark of House Cannith, which gives it an "extra slot". I have an Insightful Deadly Shard, which claims that it can be placed in an "extra slot". I have attempted to place the aforementioned shard into my shield, and have found that there is no recipe to place said shard into said shield. I've given the shard and shield in question to other people, and they've found that they experience the same issue when they try to combine them. Help please?

So, first thing I noticed is you said you gave the shard and shield to others to try, does this mean that the shard and shield are unbound? And if they are unbound, have you been trying to combine them in the unbound crafting device right next to the bank in the crafting hall?

yeah.. we used to be able to place unbound/bound shards on unbound/bound ML items but no more. Both have to be unbound or bound.

the first thing you have to do with craftable blank item is put a character-level on it; the unbound/bound status of the ML (character-level) shard determines it.

Yes; all of the shards are unbound, and I was using an unbound crafting device.

Did you apply a level to the Shield?

..or was the Shield previously bound? Once it's crafted as a bound item, that status stays with it for life.

Not if it's an unbound shard.

eta: I do know all items crafted under the old system became BTC and that marker persists after disjunction, becoming BtA

Mark of Cannith is BtA but can be used with either machine - IMO it's only BtA so they can't be traded or sold

Incorrect. Dropped from quest is unbound, obtained via favor trader is BtA.

Very rare, but yea. You can sometimes catch it on AH/ASAH.

This was the first time it was being crafted on.
