What do my fellow creators think about the new program?
What was your initial feeling reading the requirements?

are you planning to try to work for SSG as a paid creator (since ddo points are a representation of currency,...)

my feelings -
  • Streaming:
    • Streamed at least 15 times in the last 90 days (easy, most creators do)
    • VODs must be viewable (same)
    • Must average 15+ concurrent viewers (in ddo this is hit or miss based on the time; there's a very short list of streamers who can go live for ddo and grab 15 concurrent immediately, generally that's because there aren't many people on twitch/kick watching and many come and go - what a requirement like this does is encourage bad behavior, presently a huge problem on twitch (here is Dan Clancy talking about it very recently https://x.com/djclancy999/status/1949894373803802670 - youtube is hands down the crucible for determining who people are watching, what they are watching and how many people are actually in the community - yes there is bad behavior on youtube, but its is no where near as bad as twitch (or kick)
  • Social Short-Form Video Content:
    • Posted at least 15 videos in the last 90 days (is anyone making ddo shorts for tiktok? - is anyone even watching ddo shorts on tiktok?)
    • Platforms include TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, ( is anyone making ddo content for reels? Vines? I've made a shorts for youtube, do many other creators?
  • Writing:
    • Written at least 6 articles in the last 90 days (articles where? specific websites? Reddit? Or? do articles for video scripts count? I often curate articles and videos written about D&D monthly and its a very short list of those written about DDO specifically)
    • Long-Form Video Content:
    • Produced at least 6–9 videos, each 15 minutes or longer, in the last 90 days (easy, bread and butter of content creating, anyone making youtube content will do this, though youtube monetizes in the 8 minute zone)
  • Podcasting:
    • Produced at least 6 podcast episodes in the last 90 days (Here I was shocked as most podcasts are done 1 per month - 6 in 90 days ...)
  • Social Media Reach:
    • Have at least 5,000 combined followers across all platforms (if we look at youtube this is 3 people in our community; if we add twitch that number goes up slightly but its a short list -
    • Posted at least 15 Social posts in the last 90 days (easy)
    • X, Bluesky, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Other (as a creator in the community who has built up my ddo twitch/youtube organically and have made over 500 videos in 2 years i could be wrong but I feel that really twitch and youtube are the big dogs here - is anyone even on tiktok? Instagram? I know there are guilds on facebook. Does anyone use Threads? Seriously. And what is bluesky I thought that was an airline?
Content creation means different things to different people

do you think being a chosen creator would help your content? make your content better? Better serve the community of players?
Or do you think it may mute or water-down edgy content by avoiding topics un-aligned?

I posted this in the creator channel to hear back from fellow creators - what do you think?
let us all know -

The requirements can be as flexible as we want it to be, but this gives you a general sense of the kind of audience we are looking for. This isn't a machine that spits out success if you type in the right numbers, but is rather an application to us for the program. We'll read your application, and if you are a good fit, let you know.

Streaming is the easiest on the list for most creators.

Short-form videos I don't watch (I play on PC, and I watch yt videos and vods/streams on PC). I don't watch short-form videos even on yt where I watch DDO posted videos by DDO content creators. I don't like the format AT ALL. (Again, because I watch things on my monitor in 1440, not on a tiny phone).

Writing? lol. Like seriously, do people write articles about this game? Other than Massively (writing articles about the lag and problems we're facing in DDO recently), I haven't read a DDO related article in several years. Why bother? We have streamers that talk about the game in real time on live streams for this. And we can interact with those live streams and ask questions and get answers, or make comments and get responses, again, live, right then and there. I guess the forums don't count, but they should.

Podcasts are great, but our community is tiny, and Axel and/or a few others have been the only ones doing this in any kind of regularity the past year or more. I think that requirement should be drastically reduced, to say 1 episode a quarter, maybe a month, tops.

Social Media: 5,000 followers? really? That's going to alienate most of the twitch streamers and youtubers. Even combined, a lot of them don't have numbers like that. Change that to maybe 500 or 1,000 tops. We don't even have 5,000 players in DDO that I can see. We get about 700-900 on each server at peak hours right now. I suppose you can say there are casuals that log in here and there and that those numbers are double what we see at peak. Sure. But even then, that means ALL of the playerbase would have to be following the content creator.

I just think these numbers are just too high, in all the categories, and seems unrealistic. Start lower at a grounded, real number please, SSG and Daylight. Hopefully, these content creators will be like free advertising for your game and will bring in some old and new players and then maybe after a year or so, you can readjust the numbers upward if we do get a good influx of additional players. But right now, SSG...seriously...you HAVE TO FIX THE LAG and PERFORMANCE. No one will be here by the end of the year paying to play this game if you don't. The game is dying right now, and is barely playable. All hands on deck and fix this mess. It's truly embarrassing at this point. A month has gone by and nothing's really changed. Please fix it.

pretty much this. i can meet the mark on 2 of the things doing what i already love to do (long videos and build guides which i guess is like a write up), but to get the 3rd i have to do something i really dont want to do. looks like ill be making youtube shorts just to get in then never again cuz i have shortform stuff and i dont stream or podcast

Wish we could actually be creators and make our own dungeons for friends.
With the implosion of WotC's VTT and most VTTs out there being pretty unsatisfying, it seems a shame we can't use DDO as a VTT for our PnP groups.

First a little background: I recently decided to come back to streaming and rebranded myself to OsakePlays (I have scant work from OsakeDDO on YouTube) and even recently made Affiliate on Twitch. I want to thank the friendly community of Twitch streamers of DDO because this is how I realized that DDO still works for me as a creator.

Okay, that said... on to your questions:

On first seeing of the announcement, without reading the details, this really injected me with excitement and energy to get my content projects moving, e.g. YouTube. Reading them, however, left me feeling a bit intimidated as I'm still ramping up my production. Regardless, I am still super excited. Giddy in fact :D

I'm sure that I can nail 2 of 3 items in the list by end of the month (already have if you don't count DDO content), but having refrained from accepting Affiliate is now making me feel conflicted about my stance as to when I should accept it. If the YouTube algorithm works the way I expect, then I'm pretty confident that even a "new" streamer/creator can meet the reqs within a few months time. I won't pretend that this is a cake walk because it does take time and energy, but this is what I want, so I'm going to chase my dream.

tl;dr So yes I am mildly concerned about the reqs, but I have applied and hope to be accepted soon.

Hi. I applied but only fulfill 1 of 3 items on the list - long-form video. I don't twitch (I've thought about it, but it's too structured on when), do short-form videos (wouldn't know what to put in such a little amount of time), write (yikes), or have 5000 followers (I laugh at this one). I used to do a podcast but those were the good ol' days :).

I do think the outline for the criteria is off, but Cordovan says it's just a guide (that's my word, not his) for acceptance. Whether I get accepted or not, I will continue to do my videos the same as I do now. I'll do them when I want, with the theme that I want, etc, etc, etc.

Thanks for the topic, Mary. It's a good one.

I do have over 5000 on x/twitter alone... though how many of them would be interested in DDO, it's hard to say, but I can always try to get more interested. Uploading vids from streams to YouTube isn't too difficult.

I applied even though I don’t meet some of the requirements. I’ve been doing the podcast and making videos for 10 years if I get accepted great big not nothing will change for me. I think this was aimed and geared towards the bigger streamers which makes sense. Not me the small fish in the DDO sea of content makers. Which makes sense. But as I said. I’m going to keep going even if they deny me for the program. Don’t think anything will change for me.

The program is ill timed. Until the lag subsides and quality of life is improved, they shouldn't be wasting the time of creators to advertise a broken game.
