Crystal Cove returns July 18th!

I disliked Crystal Cove so much that when Three Barrel Cove came around, I avoided it like the plague. I was a returning player at the time and did know the difference. It was like back to back seeing them on lfm panel. Took me years to want to try 3bc, glad I did as it is great xp. To this day, I do not visit Crystal Cove. Mimics would be fun though, makes me stop and do options for a chance at mimics. Nice change in game play when that event came around.
Was it the wilderness that put you off? Only at the very beginning you need to go there to hunt for compasses. Later you just buy them (you exchange gems from the challenge for doubloons -- gems and doubloons are bound to account and they don't expire).

I don't like the primary dungeon. Too much of a pain to do and these days the rewards are meh. Then, I didn't know what the rewards were. I ran the dungeon with people. I got yelled out for doing the wrong thing and it was just bad. It was every group I join that say something like, " Just go run something else if you don't know what you are doing".

It was just a bad experience and I haven't touch since.

Sounds like you had yourself some bad groups! Assuming you had the compass to get in, I'm surprised you didn't get at least simple instructions such as "stick in the center and defend the base, make sure to pull baddies away" or "just run up and down the line and call out if you see any problems like a broken line or kobolds turning around or anything" or even "Just run around at random slaughtering everything, call out if you see a huge patch of purples".

I really miss when you could reliably park a couple of hirelings at the base of the ramp and run around soloing and be confident that they wouldn't run off halfway across the map trying to get to you because you took one point of damage even though they were parked. The hireling lobotomizing several years ago has made it impossible to solo Cove and the similar Cannith Challenges.

Players get like that sometimes, it is the highway (myway) or nothing. This was like 2014 or so, I had just returned to the game after some time away. I came back to my guild being banned while I was away, everyone in it got banned I was told. Something about a dupe bug. I started fresh on Sarlona and made my way through the vast new content, I last played 2009. With the help of a couple of new friends, I made it to Epics for the first time and found myself that day w/o them online. I tried using the LFM for the first time, really since I had met these friends. CC was the big event going on and LFMs were all over the place. I applied for them and one after the other was just bad. The lead saying do this, do that. I explained that I was a returning player and I had never done CC. That didn't matter. So, I just went on my way trying to do normal quests and waited for my friends.

Sometime after the even, seemed not too long, 3BC came out. I just seen cove in the title and I was like, this again.... Everyone is running this again and again. I didn't bother attempting to join LFMs at that point and carrier on my little repeater rogue path.

Like I said, I haven't touched it since and I don't like the similar challenges in House C. I don't do those either. Well, I don't do any challenges...

It is very important that when you call hirelings to a location that you do not put them on stay until the cooldown for calling them has completed, this is what has changed back then in the hireling AI and yes it is a pain because those 3 seconds are wasted standing there.

In Crystal Cove you need to check your settings to make sure you won't pick up the torches accidentaly. New attenders may not realise that and end up confused. I happened to forget about that once or twice ?

I love this event. So much fun. The only problem is it's freaking hard to find a party ?
Wish I had the time to run it this year :ROFLMAO:

,,and mimics with BENEFITS, please. As opposed to just ruining chests.

Thanks for the event.

My main feedback is that the devs should try running crystal cove at cap and then make some heroic items using gem trade-downs. That process could be better.

When trading down you trade currently dropping gems for obsolete gems. Then at some point you have to trade your obsolete gems at a 3 for 1 rate to get current lower level gems. And you have to figure out which old gems line up with the new gems at the same level. That took longer than running the challenge.

With that said - I would rather have the event as is vs. not at all.

Sorry you had a bad experience. I have loads of fun with it now both solo and teamed. I'd suggest running it solo and just go for monsters for at least a few runs till you get the map down, it's not that complicated really. And while slaying gems drop so you'll build up a pile of them. Can turn them in for coins and buy more compasses. Hope this helps next time around :)

Thank you for finally running CC, my favorite event by far. That being said, I do miss it being run for the month of August each year and then an encore near xmas/January for a week or 2. One other thing, the map pieces should come back, as I believe it inspired more teamwork among players. You could always set the required to open down as you did on Wayfinder. Toons would always group around adding theirs and waiting for it to open, open, open. Personally I loved farming Kobold Assault with a grog and a wizard with walls of fire, then helping opening for others.
Thanks again :)
