Crystal Cove returns July 18th!

Sorry you had a bad experience. I have loads of fun with it now both solo and teamed. I'd suggest running it solo and just go for monsters for at least a few runs till you get the map down, it's not that complicated really. And while slaying gems drop so you'll build up a pile of them. Can turn them in for coins and buy more compasses. Hope this helps next time around :)
I might give it a try if they make new rewards, there isn't anything there that peaks my interest anymore.

It would be really nice if the compass for crystal cove was not BTC.

I have a level 4 toon I just TR'd that has 90 compass and a level 32 with a great build for cove that had no compass. What reason is there for the compass to be BTC???
Compasses are imho not that much problem (as explained above). But the teleporter/worker/torch requisitions... oh, it hurts to be forced to throw them away just because they take up space...

Finally no more champions!!!

have nothing against CC but i personally don't like to run the event but champs are a pita for ranged and there is no way to turn them off

The only issue I had with the champs, as a warlock, was the strings of 'Deflected' messages I would see over their heads every now and then.

You are not alone there are many players in my circle that despise the champs being in quests, but happy the cove is mid summer as there are plenty of things to do on a nice sunny day outside.

And our permadeath static groups take this time to have those dates to clean our toons up a bit, maybe clean up some challenge favor options or run through a wilderness area or two to pick up some ingredients on our allowed once thru run.

The champ with the dodge/deflection/concealment buff simply destroys the immersion of permadeath play and i am sure impacts other players like yourself as well. Also be aware of the Mabar champs in quest, even on elite they can come with the full 10 champ buffs, just remember if it makes the game unenjoyable for you the best thing to do for yourself is turn the game off and find something else to do. What you shouldnt do is get angry at the game and try to fight against it because you want to prove something to the devs/management, thats the trap, deep breaths and on to something else you enjoy while the event champs are present.

That and the tons of dodge sometimes they get, not a problem on a capped toon but the last 2 weeks TR'd my ranger and i don't have dodge bypass so double frustrating. Sometimes need more time killing a champ than a boss. Extremely unbalanced for heroics, not so bad on epics/cap

Is there a reason we can't just leave this area open permanently now that they've gotten rid of the turn-in-to-open mechanic? Just get rid of all the special chests and stuff with monsters and keep this area open like they do with the challenges.

In fact, maybe just get rid of everything except the actual challenge and just plop the quest opening in 3bc. If you can pick up all the ingredients in the quest any way, no real reason not to just let people run it all the time. Would just need to remove the compass-to-open thing, but that shouldn't be impossible.

(Note: I like the winter festival and halloween thing as stand alone events, although I hate that the halloween things decay--lame.)

Don't forget the terrible lame chocolates they came up with. Those things were worse than non-functional monster manuals!

It is very important that when you call hirelings to a location that you do not put them on stay until the cooldown for calling them has completed, this is what has changed back then in the hireling AI and yes it is a pain because those 3 seconds are wasted standing there.
Yes, I know that.

No, that has absolutely nothing to do with what I said. "Stay here" only works until you get attacked, and then they will abandon their post and come running to you.

It has nothing to do with the cooldown.
