Dark Gifts are a fail

They're annoying to get, but it's a not-small amount of power to get if you use them well.

"Haven't and won't use them, and they're a fail - haven't tried and haven't really thought about it either, but it's probably bad" is some fox and the sour grapes stuff.

How do you know if it resets at all?
I saw your other thread on the topic. I too have received the eldritch scorn the very first activation after a shrine rest, but it only happened once so far. I think you can tell it reset based on how frequent the scorn is. If you activate it 7 or 8 times in a row you're pretty much guaranteed to receive the scorn. Whereas on the first try after a shrine it's much more rare for me at least.

It has happened quite a few times for me, even getting the scorn 3-4 times in a row after shrining.

But I have used some of them. I never said I didn't. I said I didn't use the one referenced which extends your melee range.

OMG, they are so very VERY far from "free". They cost an entire saga (and not a pleasant saga like RL) and they have to be reapplied every single life. Even a minor TR will erase them.

IMHO, this makes them crazy-expensive and only usable for raid-parked characters.
Nothing in this game is free when your paying a monthly sub.

Fair enough. That said, annoyingly few things in DDO give best results when going as per description. Quite a few things sound better on paper and vice versa - some things just work better, sometimes cheat levels of better than decription lays out.

This is not a defence of the dark gifts system, but going back to your earlier comment - descriptions are sadly not a reliable way to gauge things in DDO.

So... your stance is the customer is not allowed to complain about a product they pay for and you're the complaint police?
If you are so fortunate that this skippable content is all you have to cry about, count your blessings. You absolutely have a right to complain, as I have a right to complain about your complaining.

I heard something wise regarding complaints once, and it went something like "griping without also suggesting a way to better the equation is an exercise in self gratification."

It just seems like the boards have been sprouting a larger than usual amount of frivolous negativity of late, or I could just need a siesta. Either way the choice is yours, ***** about a problem OR be part of a solution.

i use them, i enjoy echoing soul. i used the web-touched wretch and it was ok, i used the form of pain and liked it, ive used minion of eldritch...i have tried out most of them by now, some are good some are meh...not sure i can see where the outrage comes from...you literally do not have to interact with them unless you are on a dark bargainer life and that one is freely given to you?

I did make a suggestion which I thought would be better. You just didn't see it. From what I understand, the Lam forum offered criticism as well and it went unheard.

Criticism and adjustments are always offered on the Lam forums and ignored. Since it's inception, it's always been more of a preview server than a test server.

*#%+ now I have to side with Konsumer in this very thread ?

I hate this strawman around here saying people are only complaining, not trying to offer solutions, when those people are indeed offering walls of solutions all over the forums.

Way to blindly assume people are just complaining and not read anything they’re posting. Did that wise person have any sayings about actually reading what other people wrote ?

TLDR. ;) It's also possible to take exception to the "sky is falling" hyperbole - in this case Dark Gifts as some kind of rip-off.

Side left, side right, IMO the board warrior scoreboard is immaterial. Enjoy the game.
