So which one do you think is a more efficient use of your time and money? What needs improvement?

Here’s a comparison of the differences between DDO and LOTRO subscription/VIP benefits — what one gives that the other doesn’t, or gives more of. Both games have very similar multi-month pricing tiers, especially at 3-month and 12-month.

DDO VIP vs LOTRO VIP

FeatureDDO VIP — Unique / Stronger AspectsLOTRO VIP — Unique / Stronger Aspects
Quest Packs / Game Content AccessDDO VIP gives access to many past, present, and future quest packs, races, classes depending on pack exclusions. Some newer expansions may still require purchase; earlier VIPs have broader access.LOTRO VIP gives access to all quest packs & skirmishes available in the store as part of the subscription. This tends to be broader content inclusion for LOTRO VIP in terms of “store-content quest packs.”
XP BoostsDDO VIP has a +10% XP boost (with additional bonuses per party member).LOTRO VIP offers a daily +100% XP bonus (but only for part of a level) — which is a larger temporary bonus in XP under certain conditions.
Points / In-game CurrencyDDO VIP gives 500 DDO Points/month for the DDO store.LOTRO VIP gives 500 LOTRO Points/month as well, but LOTRO has different pricing and value for items; also LOTRO’s store content is more integrated into aesthetic / housing / gear cosmetic items.
Inventory / Slots / StorageDDO VIP gives more vault slots, shared bank, crafting storage, inventory benefits.LOTRO VIP provides expanded inventory slots, wardrobes, additional character slots, etc. The volume and specific categories differ: for example LOTRO gives additional character or housing storage perks.
Loyalty / RewardsDDO VIP includes loyalty rewards (monthly gifts for continuing subscription), free chest rolls, etc. These are often cosmetic or small utility items.LOTRO VIP also gives weekly “Gold Hobbit Presents” (free gift), and features like priority login, mailbox, etc. LOTRO tends to have more regular freebies tied to VIP status.
Access restrictions / ExclusionsIn DDO some of the newest expansions, races, classes may not be fully included under VIP or may require additional cost or unlocks.LOTRO tends to include more store-quest-packs directly, but expansions (major expansion packs) may still need to be purchased separately under LOTRO’s model.

Don't all DDO expansions require purchase?
Yes but vip should allow all quests without putting a gate because the person is already working. DDO created the fremium mmo but even them have something to learn from time to time. DDO learning curve is huge, even to install the game is a pain, the options don't even have a preset for win 7, 10, 11 or linux. The first barrier is the pc knowledge, then there are 800 quests to learn, hundreds of mechanics that are far from the tabletop game and so on.
And people must memorize the map that is huge even for an instance game.

Technically, yes, but if you're willing to wait then you can use DDO Points to buy them. Since you can get those through game play, it's not like you're spending any money on them.
Don't technically me here. All become available that way, just like adventure packs and everything else in the store. But not realistic. Bottom line is EVERY expansion needs to be purchased one way or the other.

One big difference for me is the VIP services from anywhere LOTRO has (includes mailbox, vaults, auction house, shop), and no equivalent for DDO.
You also get no damage to gear in LOTRO as VIP - this is a big reason I cut back on DDO after only a few months, had a weapon that kept getting permanent damage and saw there was only a store item to help with that.
Note: I've played DDO for about 1 1/2 years, LOTRO for 11 1/2

You can prevent permanent damage by binding/attuning a item at a stone of change. All bound items don't take permanent damage.

The list of perks is incomplete though.
For example a VIP gets to open elite+ on first lifers.
Get access to races/classes/trees etc.
Gets golden rolls.
And other perks that all together contribute to some quality of life.
Still, I think the comparison is irrelevant and the only comparison that actually matters is one that we can't do.
#of f2p players, #of premium, #of vip
For each game.

Cheers
Ps: I never was a VIP, my game money go to expansions... And opening elite is the only feature of vip I would be interested.
Probably, I will become VIP for hardcore.
PS2: one thing that I believe it is unfair for VIPs, is that they don't have access to buy with DDOs the content they get access as VIPs.
