So i logged in this monday to do 3 quests in MD.
There was so much lag it took me 18 minutes to finish Book Burning when it should have taken max 10.
Another pot ran out.
Cancelled my subscription which does not mean much as i have just payed for a year.

It's not like i am quitting the game it's just the game is unplayable so why pay.

Call me a doomsayer fanboy anyday but this is too much for too long.

i'm not a SSG apologist but what server are you playing on? i was on Argonnessen all weekend and there was a few little bumps but nothing worse than it has been in the past 15 years. if you decided to go to a mega server Orien, despite the fact SSG told us all that they couldn't handle a mega server, well sometimes things happen.

if they say "you are going to burn yourself if you touch the stove" i will believe them, since they made the stove. hundreds (thousands?) of you didn't listen and are shocked and infuriated when what they were told actually happened.

lol, "mega server" with less than 300 players on average ...
I play on Cannith, the server with the second-lowest population, and I also got lags over the last 2-3 weeks that make the game simply unplayable.

fair (300 players on average)....i'm just saying that there were warnings and Orien seems to be going down more than other servers.

We must not be playing the same game. Until last Wednesday the game was unplayable. They made the patch that changed the internship code, and then it became playable (not perfect, but playable). On Friday the x64 server opened, which must be another virtual machine in the same location, because the game is horrible again... I played the whole weekend getting angry with a lot of lags, crashes, deaths because of this and wasting XPO and Slayer potions for nothing. I play in Orien, it's horrible...

Which server are you playing on?

Had a party of six on Cannith running Wheelon chain today, without any noticable lag. Saturday was fine as well for me. Sunday; a couple of hiccups during prime time, but nothing that couldn't be handled.

Much better now than before Wednesday.

I think Wayfinder might have something to say bout the "lowest population" :)

I was on Argo on Thurs and Friday soloing level 5-7 quests on a stormsinger with no past lives (made it b/c Orien is a slideshow) and it was stuttering and freezing like crazy. MObs just stood there without doing anything in Feywild and IoD. I'm GMT+9, which isn't even close to primetime.

Ignore the average and pay attention to the peak. That's where the problem lies. For Orien that's almost 400 players. For Cannith, Khyber, and Thelanis that's 225 players. By those standards Orien is a mega server.

Oh, Wayfinder is actually a live server ?
By Wayfinder's standard peak of 50 players we're all on mega servers. What we need is free character transfers so we can transfer an entire raid group to their server, run all of our raids, and then transfer back when we're done.

The lag is worse it’s been though and the game is not massive it’s tiny compared to most. Was looking forward for raids yesterday on the mania and the new raid was unplayable. Ended up quitting without completing because you couldn’t move

It's also far more complex than most. World of Warcraft for example doesn't have the concept of a projectile headed in your direction can be dodged by moving your character to the side. Or that you can come up with some absurdly overpowered and underpowered builds by mixing and matching classes, feats, enhancements, etc. All of that eats up memory which is bad for a server that is still 32-bit.

It definitely is and that why I love it. But it’s not making it easy.

Maybe, but when I hear "Mega Server" I think of stuff like Eve Online (I believe there all players are on the same server, and they peak at 100k or so)
Or even World of Warcraft, when they started in 2005 had several thousand players per server.

This exactly. They can do it why not DDO and when there’s barely people to run with it doesn’t feel quite like that can be the issue

We can with the 64-bit upgrade. We haven't been able to so far because 32-bit means 2GB RAM per instance.
