Dhampir pronunciation

Someone please ELI5

I know you Americans like to do weird things with your name pronunciations.
Like, how the heck do you get Arkinsaw from Arkansas? No, don't answer that.

I know some of you guys have dropped the u in Minotaur so it sounds like Minotar instead of like Taurus, is in the bull constellation...weird, but ok 🤪

But how do you get Dhampeer from Dhampir? Wouldn't it be like "ir" as in Bird?
You don't say Beerd do you? Maybe Feer Tree instead of Fir Tree? Even Deerectory instead of Directory?

Ok, maybe if you're live in New Zealand you would pronounce those words that way and I would fully understand...but.

If it's half vampire shouldn't it be Dhampire? Or even a fancy Dhampyre?

As an Australian, Dhampir would be pronounced like our traditional outback bread.

Damper.

Mmmm tasty outback vampire!

I blame @Cordovan for all this confusion 😉

*Disclaimer: Not a serious post, please don't treat it that way

It is not an English word.
In many languages when a word is ending as "ir" it is pronounced as "eer" and not "ayer" so that's how you get dhampeer.
And vampire is the Enghlish version of vampir (see, same ending as dhampir).

I used to have that discussion with Americans and then realised they spell it differently lol why? No idea. 😂
I enjoy the extra U my non-American friends use.

To this thread I have one word... wind. I'll let you choose how to pronounce it. It's a noun...it's a verb...it's two of one and three of the other.
Language is funny.
Five different meanings for a word that only has four letters...

What I want to know is why don't you realise there's TWO i's in aluminium? 🤓

I mean, you don't pronounce dominion as dominon, do you?

And it's dam-pyre. 😁👍
AluminEEEum sounds like making a big deal out of it like something conspicuously contrived like public school "English".

The aluminum body Cybertrucks are total fail in America, getting progressively damaged anytime they bear loads due to being made of tin can material, but perhaps the high tech aluminium version in the UK will work out better. Also explains their advanced Guinness cans, and the relative effectiveness of foil hats there.
