Divine Crusader Weak?

Running my 4th life as a THF Aasimar paladin, KoTC, and examining epic options. Divine Crusader seems like the obvious choice, but looking through it nothing special about it really leaps out. Am I missing something? Is it better than i think?

For the cower make sure to have trance going before using Consecration and probably want to boost Sunder and have you max stat be decent. Check that your trance is boosting tactics. Definitely need to have Embodiment of Law feat if you want DC T5 to suffice for DPS. Lean into the DPS options, and probably take the smite boosts, you will need it. Your spells Angel Skin, Righteous Command, Zeal, possibly Holy Sword are really strong. The CHA boost to saves can be very helpful, especially if you manage to squeeze in evasion somehow.

Divine Crusader is a bit more skewed to sword and board or two weapon fighting in all honesty, for a TWF paladin it's pretty much your best tree with Law of the Divine and the map wide mighty crusade bonus on smites. Overall it is a supportive tree with most of the personal damage value loaded into the extra damage on sunders (most effective with TWF) and Law of the Divine damage (most effective with TWF).
If you're 2hf though you'll likely prefer going deep into Fury of the Wild or Dreadnaught.

Divine Crusader is an interesting destiny. For a paladin I wouldn't say it's weak but rather outside of beckon divinity which can be a raid-saver (and with a good group will sit unused) it just doesn't have any really flashy moves & it's all about just making you better at everything you're already doing.

DC is only an option if you have a favored weapon, so it automatically excludes builds.

Consecreate + Cower is great CC because it's Will-based. So even first life characters can get functional Consecreate DCs to make mobs helpless.

If you're SWF or TWF, 14 Law Dice in T5 is pretty damned good.

As a primary destiny sure, though i love it as a splash one on a number of my characters, 11 points for the 1st 3 cores and smites that'll give some healing are great, add a few more for restoration on using turn undead too and youve got some great generalised boosts

but you post the melee bard which gets the favored weapon from the tree :)
so even you dont have the favored weapon already, its still option to get one from the tree wide selection

The selection is not as wide as you think. Plenty of weapons can't be favored. And if you curse a weapon to be favored, congrats on your unicorn build.

It would be handy if we could fool the gods that a glammered short sword is making my kukri favored.

A disappointment in the tree is lack of doublestrike other than the tier 5 shield thing, especially given that the tree appeals to melees; I can tap 8 out of Fury and 8 out of SD and I suppose some with a ton of PLs can pull this off while still doing DC. But the OP is a new player so not happening, and hence doublestrike will be low.
