So coming back from a long absence, I still see the same things being talked about.
I think many of us have to accept the reality of things and no amount of talking will change that.....that is unless Devs do really read our posts.
Reality Check:
1) Impossible to make everyone happy. It's worse to make no one happy. Better off to make a some people happy.
2) Those who can zerg, will zerg. I don't think Zergers care about triggering Dungeon Alerts, to them it's just another challenge to overcome. Sure there are some nice zergers that will bring your soul stone to a shrine and there are those who follow the Pirate's Code "Any man who falls behind is left behind"
3) Reapers are here to stay.
4) Huge Gap between new/ casual players and the zergites
5) Server Mergers are not happening. For such a small dev team that would be a ginormous and time consuming task to do, and expensive unless players pay for it. How would DEVs know the active or dormant accounts? Do you transfer everyone?
6) Hardcore is getting a little stale (this being more recent) but it's better than nothing
Some Practical Solutions that I've read on the forums or from yours truly
Players: a)Quit. Stop throwing your money away, stop wasting your time. (Tried and true method)
b) Spend MONEY
c) Don't spend money, spend TIME, learn the quests, learn to play better
d) Find a good group (easier on some servers than others)
e) do Crafting
f) collect collectibles to give to collectors to collect free things to help in quests, I'd forgotten that for 3 Amber Vials you can get a +20 Jump pot
g) buy haste pots with your plat, buy speed items from AH or obtain from quests or farm a ton of Anger's Step from Korthos
DEVS: a) Fix or update some classes / races / enhancements to better handle the current state of game - such as scaling Vulkoor's Avatar (i know it's a bad
example)
b) give better btc starting equipment or leveling goods to new players only
c) offer special discounts to DDO store items to first time players to help them level up or survive quests
d) give a special XP bonus to all new first life players to gain levels faster
e) make all old quests or lower level quests free to everyone, for people who missed the free coupon giveaways
f) Make new quests that are Zerg proof, i.e. more doors, traps, levers, puzzles or escorting Coyle
g) Shut down under performing or low population servers and offer a free transfer for active accounts. I guess for dormant accounts, owners would contact
support to do a transfer if they return to the game
h) make XP pots have charges like a clicky instead of time based....so a minor XP pot would have 3-5 charges that can be applied to 3-5 quests of your choice
i) increase the amount of XP needed to level after TRing
j) For reaper XP, make everything contribute to reaper XP in a quest, if people do the least amount of work in a quest they should get the base amount of reaper XP. If you do more in a quest you should get more reaper XP. So do some or all those optionals vandal, ingenious..etc that should give you more
reaper XP. It doesn't mean flower-sniffing, it means you have more choices.
j) For Hardcore, more variety:
1) races to earn your guild more renown to get better buffs, just make sure mounts are the same speed, can add speed boosts on the track like Mario Cart
2) (tried this once on Khyber, very fun) Munchkin events - semi-naked people frolicking in quests - until you find items in the quests to use
3) (my personal favorite) Rewards based on Classes, if you are the Top of the Leader Board for Druids, you should get something appropriate for
Druids or something of your choice. More rewards based on classes means more people staying thru the whole HC season, more variety of classes, more TRing, more money spending?
3) (truly crazy) A Pure Hardcore Season or short event with NO guild buffs, you survive based on skills, spells, items, luck, and teamwork. Pure level playing field
