was able to increase the spell power for sonic to 250 and the lore to 28% at level 20 that should help a little for sonic damage almost doubled the criticals but i think i was waiting until epic to use the crafting mats for it at that time and haven't had done it yet.

no this is not an epic toon I have epic gear this is the end of level 19 20 and I've set the 13 destiny points and included them .
this is a heroic character. so including epic trees and feats and gear is not the problem .

i have tool bars set and move spells in and out of the tool bar and button slots according to the quest I'm playing.

spell power/lore is at level . seeing that the only SP and Lore for dps with bard spells is sonic.
Look, you've attempted a have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too, advanced hybrid build that can do everything moderately well.

This type of build is the most challenging to do well in DDO. Making a build of this type work requires a LOT more min/maxing and is far more gear dependent than a single-purpose build.

At least some of us could and likely have run successful Warchanter style builds in the past. We aren't the one posting here complaining that it didn't work - you are.

Some people in this thread have legitimately tried to help you. They've given you good advice and feedback.

Your setup has multiple shortcomings. The gear is a big one. The enhancement choices are another.

Thus far however, instead of trying to listen and learn from their advice, all you've done is respond with closed-minded excuses, mental gymnastics, and ad hominems. Minds are like parachutes, they only work when opened.

If you truly want to improve the build and make it work, you should consider rethinking your attitude towards the people trying to help and listen to them.

It's completely up to you though. If you just want to vent and complain that your build sucked, go for it, but at least be up front about that so others don't waste their time trying to help you fix it.

I'm not sure how much of a drastic change it would take to rebuild into the Sharn set. what I would lose in other enhancements and having to rebuild them. I haven't given it much thought since I didn't experience a good run in heroics with this bard. I am sure the sonic will hit much harder more often now. but still need to select an epics path that maintains my playstyle. Tankish caster self sufficient can take a hit and still keep fighting while having CC and the ability to evade when needed in solo play. I dont care too much for reincarnating with biskets Id rather survive

It's not helping because you're not listening.

You don't appear to want to be helped. Nobody can help someone who doesn't want to be helped and doesn't listen to feedback and advice.

Plenty of good advice has been given in this thread. It's up to you to use it.

If your main priority is caster then t5 warchanter is not the choice. You should be in t5 spellsinger. I've run with a handful of spellsingers who have been able to make their bards tanky. Going t5 warchanter is never their choice. Spending heavier in spellsinger will give you more dc's, penetration, mana/hp recovery, and sonic SLA's. You can then fill in some warchanter stuff for more defences. You should really be able to get your sonic much closer to 400-500 spellpower at 20 though. From the sound of it you are playing like a spellsinger but picking warchanter for some odd reason.

Easy to fix.

Reset enhancements, take spellsinger capstone & from t5's tske horn/hold monster/sp regen/sp & enchantment dc.

(41 ap)

Take bard run speed from swashbuckler.

(48 ap)

Take 4th core & stat nodes (t3 & t4 - make them all cha) from feydark, including got your back)

(70 ap)

Get cha nodes from racial tree.

(76 ap)

Take con as core 1 in warchanter & get rough & ready

(80 ap)

Go farm borderlands for arcsne ingots & get a resonation & devotion scepter.

Maybe visit Lockania to get a free feat swap to add in quicken/maximize/empower if you don't have them.

Then mass hold or improved colour spray into horn/shout sla/shout/soundburst etc.

ez game

I learned ~15 years ago that S&B bard without Swashbuckler was a bad idea, at least if I actually wanted to hit things and not just turtle up. My excuse was Swashbuckler didn't exist back then and it was early days for me, so I didn't know any better.

Your continued insistence that Melee Power is king while ignoring everything else just demonstrates you don't understand how DDO DPS Math works. I see zero melee combat-style feats (not even the Shield Mastery line) and no critical threat range bonuses besides Howl of the North; so yeah, no wonder your melee DPS is bad. SWF line + Improved Critical with ~13 APs Swashbuckler and switching to light armor + buckler (w/Skirmisher) would be a huge improvement; though at this point you'd need a Lesser Reincarnation.

Speaking of which, medium armor + light shield is almost anti-synergistic, since neither works with Swashbuckling (were you to take it) and medium armor blocks Evasion (the main / only reason to even consider light shields IMO).

You claim to want to be a melee crowd-controller, yet you skipped Spinning Ice - arguably the best part of being a melee Warchanter.

You complain about bard Sonic spells being bad, but you didn't take Maximize + Empower (the must-have metamagics for any DPS caster IMO) and spent zero APs on Spellsinger, where all the Sonic boosts and SLAs lie. So yeah, no wonder you think bard caster DPS sucks too. Even if you just want some Enchantment spells without going all-in on Spellsinger, there's enough DC boosts in SS to be worth spending ~13 APs.

All of which has been explained to you multiple times since you started this thread four months ago, but you've basically dismissed every piece of advice offered as "missing the point" of your bard or whatever. And it's like, nah, we see what you're trying to do and trying to tell you how to fix it, but it seems like you'd rather be Confidentially Incorrect instead.

i am trying to find the reason I want war chanter rather then spell singer as your right spell singer leans more to what I was trying to accomplish and would ad to DC criticals . I feel I'm trying to find a reason to keep using arch mage as the main enhancement tree for a wizard.

I'm just finishing my last Deurgar life on a bard, so I thought it might be useful to show where my lazy build is at lv 10 - I did go stormsinger & caster DPS.

Gear is really nothing of note & nothing boosted, just feywild gloves/bracers/rings/helm, cannith crafted neck & cloak for con & cha, bottle of shadows trinket, lv 2 borderlands scepters.

It's nothing special.

I'm just showing what I'm doing, which you might find more exciting than what you tried.

Bard is fun. Open up and try what people recommend. You might just like it.

Yeah, at least until you reincarnate or roll another toon, you're better off just going t5 spellsinger because swapping all the feats needed to make a solid warchanter would be impractical. I still think you should try an actual warchanter life at some point but actually build around its strengths and take the appropriate feats. Its a fun playstyle. That being said your build is still lacking metamagic feats like empower and maximize but building and gearing more towards a spellsinger will make your life far easier and more enjoyable right now.

Funny thing is I'm half tempted to roll up a warchanter now because I do love the playstyle.

Your casting and defensive stats at lvl 10 are as good as the OP's at level 19/20. Granted, some of that is due to all the PLs you have which they don't, but still.

You could the focus the remaining 10 levels on melee stuff, grab sharn gear and end up with a significantly better version of what the OP wants by level 20... yet he won't listen to what we've been telling him.

Thread summary so far:

OP has become Olympic medalist in 50m dash in the 40m gymnasium.
If this is trolling, it's the literal best I've seen in many years, if not, I suggest something more like candy crush for OP.

So 140 posts later, you are now not actually understanding why you went Warchanter, despite telling everyone and i do mean everyone, including the entire community that no one, and i mean no one, knows anything about Warchanters except you, and no one except you has played a warchanter, and calling everyone morons etc, you are now presenting you dont know why you went warchanter, because what everyone says makes sense. Not sure what relevance Arch Mage has to do with anything, bit of deflection from admitting that dont know as much as you think you do, i dont know. But yeah from what you showed, overall build, stats, gear, enhancements etc, is exactly why you cant do much damage and cant be a spell casting, sword wielding, damage dealing, death defying stuntman that you think you should be. Lord knows, we all tried to explain things to you, but closed mind syndrome sure doesnt help.
