Do you think the bad decisions are from SSG or EG7?

My guess is EG7 is pushing minimum revenue per quarter and locking in deadlines even if it means…. Well… look at the bugs and missing functionality in the new Iconic. That will hopefully get patched weekly until it’s okay.

I really can't believe there's a corpo behind them forcing them to make a bad game and lose money.

I am way more inclined to believe the one(s) in charge of design suffer(s) from "bad DM" syndrome. Aka "I am right and the players are all wrong, they just can't accept it because they hate being wrong and accepting that I am right and everyone else is wrong and I know better and if you don't like it don't play"
man I've thought that as well. a "I'm the best DM nobody beats my dungeons" mindset

I suspect it could be both? There are share-holders to keep happy, & profits + outlooks that need to look good, otherwise bad things happen...

These may be avenues they need to take to keep profitability up, but that doesn't mean we have to be okay with that.

I'm not okay with the way they've priced things overall. They are not palatable. Most of this stuff has to go on sale before I'd consider it on principle. I don't mind spending money on the game, but the value to cost ratio for me seems way out of whack. I will absolutely be buying the base package of the new expansion, but that's it. That makes me sad because I would/could spend more, but I won't because the value for me is not there. 🙁

EG7 views the entire Daybreak portfolio as a cash cow with consistent revenue and some amount of growth.

SSG's challenge is that the population isn't growing and there have been some infrastructure challenges to growth, but they are still expected to grow revenues.

If the 64-bit server experience is better perhaps more new players will stick around and they can get some growth that way. That would be great if it happens.

Nobody's really to blame - they are just trying to do the best they can with the system and limited resources they have. It's not perfect, but they are doing a decent job and hopefully when the 64-migration is complete we can see the fruit of their labor.

Investment firms manipulate small companies all the time. Thus it wouldn't surprise me to see one leaning on SSG to increase the investor short-term returns. After all, Investment firms don't give a rats arse about the long-term so long as their quarterlies are solid.

Does it matter?

Just don't call out anyone individually. And try to be kind.

The question doesn't, an honest answer (that we'll never get) YES, ABSOLUTELY.

Also, I believe you forgot to switch to your mammalian sock account, your answer is way to mellow. That or you're drunk again.

It's probably a mix of things. My experience with mother companies makes me think that EG7 isn't much involved in any decision making. My guess is they simply have targets that must be met, and policies to follow, and then SSG is responsible for deciding how to do that. In a way you could say EG7 is responsible, but I imagine any choice lies with the devs.

I also think SSG is looking at a bigger picture than the players are and act on data that we don't have, which is why many of the choices they make are unpopular with part of the playerbase. I'm not saying they're necessarily the right decisions, but who's to know.

So at this point its hard to deny, we are getting rare loot and no direct to quest teleporters in the new xpac. I'm going to stick around until 100% confirmation but while I wait I'll be trailing other games.

Reason I ask is: if it seems likely EG7 is pushing SSG to make these awful decisions, then obviously I'm not going to waste my time or money on another EG7 property. But if we think its just SSG, then I can have a look at the rest of their offerings as I search for greener shores.

It would be nice if we could blame EG7, but SSG/Turbine made bad decisions and abused the player base loooooong before EG7 got involved.

Even worse with MD, the quests are spread out and not easy to differentiate.
And this is a small thing... but.... out of chronological order.
They clearly took time to develop a coherent story line. Why put the quests in crazy orders such that people won't be able to follow it until they've ran it 5-10 times and they're putting the pieces in order like a puzzle.
