does Duergar take away race comp?

how do you know? wood elf didt do it. isnt this just another dwarf

Wood Elf was a racial variant (and, thus far, the only one). Duergar seems to be a new race. If it has a separate, unique PL feat, then it's a full race, which means you need it for Racial Comp.

Eladrin was a full race, not an Elf variant. All the other racial releases since Wood Elf have been full races, too. Its entirely possible they could do Duergar as a Variant, but the pattern suggests they've given up on that mechanic.

If it follows the pattern of previous releases, Duergar will be available pretty much as soon as you're able to preorder the expansion & the appropriate completionist feat will still be functional in the time between that and full release, letting early adopters have the chance to get the new races' past lives done & never actually have a point at which they temporarily lose access to it.

But hey this is DDO, where magically warforged are allowed in Faerun.
They aren't created there though, they teleport there from Eberron like any other non-Forgotten Realms race. There was even a nice little touch in Beyond the Rift where when you meet Ana, her comment is something like "um, what are you?" rather than "who are you?" for most races - I think there's another different comment if you're a Drow, too.

I'm going with the assumption that Duergar will be a new race and not a variant. I'm on my last life on one character and 2nd to last on another.

The debate for me is do I spend the time to reincarnate to get the feat now and enjoy for a bit or spend the time earning epic feats until it drops.

It's half year or almost half year until the new xpack. Get the feat and do the ERs with the feat. Plenty time.

Because Wood Elf is under the Regular "Elf" past life so youd already have it Similar to already having Cleric if you did a Dark Apostate, but hey you wont read this anyway.
That doesn't sell otto boxes. Why we hadn't had this since. There whould be zero incentive to play one unless a build interest you with thst race.
Ssg is about making money.
And your part on compareing race to class. Yes da is a type of cleric. But it gives a nice passed life for people that play negative heal builds.

It def will gets real old after half dozen times chasing it and the only reason to buy xpacks early was also removed

Cuz reasons unknown can't make this stuff up

I'm playing 5+ different characters, maybe if I only played one - but then it wouldn't be fun for me

@Concavenator Well the game IS based around the accumulation of power via the reincarnation system. So YES it will reset. (yet another reason I'll never have a racial completionist)
