Double down on Battle Engineer Crossbow line?

Comrade artificers - with the recent changes to repeating crossbow speeds, as a ranged arti, is it better to double down and still go all in on Battle Engineer (for T5s like increased critical threat range and weapon attachment), or focus on getting T5 in Arcanotechnics (Lighting Impunity Strip) or even the T5 tankiness of Renegade Mastermaker (my thinking since I'd probably take longer to impale evil with enough bolts to kill them, looking good in some sexy heavy armor while I do that would be a good move).

Or just change my whole lifestyle and get a big sword and whack away.

Hold off on the big sword until the next round of balance fixes see where the dust settles and who's left standing

One thing for sure is I'm not throwing away my cross bows (or ever will I stop trying to pew pew every barrel in every dungeon - I am to lag, what my generation is to fuel economy, that is I will drive a gas guzzling V8 truck regardless)

As someone who has done almost all racials as an arty I will for sure be trying out the repeater style although I think the earlier levels will be a bit slower, if only slightly. Chasing 100 doubleshot is way more important now as is making sure we use our shot abilities from whatever tree... I ran inquisitor quite a lot and would be interested to revisit it at some point given that they have an AoE attack now BUT. I still think the repeater will be better in the long run so I will mostly be going BA. That being said, I am not done with caster arty either Ive still got a few racials to go.

Ive never run t5 renegade, but on one of my halforc lives I ran 15 arty 5 dragonlord and I could stun or trip whatever the heck I wanted. With sub optimal gear for melee. Definitely need to do that again but with the right gear. I insist on having at least 1 reconstruct though and it was hard to fit it in as at level 15 arty you need to pick between Deadly Weapons and Reconstruct, of course I took deadly, but if I wanted any form of healing worth bothering with I had to spend 26 points in Renegade for the Recon SLA. Its a bit expensive, but you do pick up a chunk of extra HP on the way. I took the +6 to Con too so I think it ended up being 29 in Renegade if memory serves.

I only recently tried this, having played BE T5 for some time, and was suitably impressed with the survivability it brought at the cap. The ticking heal from that little lantern thing had me surviving the laggiest of raids and the boost to HP from the T5's is really nice. I've yet to try the caster arty, but tactical detonating those technicians in best laid plans remains a priority on my to do list :)

Gnome or 12 ranger + dws for threat, 12 or 4-6 arti, t5 dws, big dam

or 15 pala 5 arti for holysword and zeal! => no need to go t5 BE, get to do other stuff and still get threat (and multi) without racials

Yeah man caster arty is a lot of fun, just remember to keep a decent lowbie xbow to hand as you will need it til you get your SLAs

P.S. Enjoy your vids, watched your test of repeaters yesterday :)

I can recommend that. It feels good to pay those jerks back. Caster arti is a lot of fun to level with. Can always respec later with a heart.

I can't stand the arti spell stripping when you do run into immunes wish that was better

Could really use an over haul for epics now too

I was actually running a full on bubble build but I etr'ed into repeaters to try the repeaters a couple of weeks ago. Sad panda was sad.

You can do awesome things with the ticking lantern AND healing artie puppy but you are very limited by what your party members are doing. You can only do repair construct one of them (unless you hoarded convector cookies!). The bubbles are really good for raids and so is the mass bubble.
