Because it's a bug. It was even in the patchnotes that spells were buffed for players ONLY.
I would like blindness to work on enemy NPCs the way it works on PCs ... Everything goes dark ...
I hit them with blindness and it's like it isn't blind.
If they hit my character with the same spell instantly dark.

People should be challenged though.
There is a reason we optimize builds, chase gear and past lives.
Remove the challenge and these goals become meaningless.

There are first life players who find hard difficulty challenging.
There are second life players who find r1 challenging.
There are completionists who yawn at soloing r6.

So sure for us multi-life, optimized gear players it makes r1 more challenging. But then we are looking for challenge in the wrong place. If we want to be challenged then we should increase the r level.

Weighing in to add weight to the statements of others.....patch server failing on my end, too. Came here to see if it was just me or not.....

I've been reading on these forums that the game is too easy and we need reaper 11, but one little bump on two spells makes everyone run around screaming. Not sure what to think about it.

Different people, different characters, different everything.

An untested and maybe somewhat geared but not really minmaxed leveling character to suddenly get oneshot by R1 trash mobs is a very different conversation from endgame players not having any aspirational goals besides high end raiding and soloing.

Edit: fixed to quote correct post

Reporting: Logged into the game server Shadowdale near 11:30 Central Time. Airship operations/interactions seem very smooth and near latency free. I used the western portal to the lower decks that had been having so much time delay and used the bank in the cargo hold and used the buff bar on the top deck and all seem wonderful, especially in comparison to just last night. I do understand that is it a workday morning with a much lower population than prime time; I shall hope that the improved performance continues through higher population times.

Happy DDO'ing everyone 😁
