Not super pleased about the change to Mantle of Invulnerability. Not because it'll change how I approach those quests, but because it's more Flanderization of the spellcasting system. One less tactic you need to have in your toolbox in order to confront certain monsters. Makes the game more stupider.

I guess I'll be grateful that 1) they didn't change Globe of Invulnerability so I can still get rid of bees in Hound, and 2) it will be easier to beat down the Wiz-King on lives when I forget to check my spells before I head to the desert.

Yeah.
Soloing Wiz-King on eElite/reaper will be slightly easier on a full caster.

For those builds that could swap spells or change tactics the old version wasn't a big deal. But for various builds/setups that couldn't do that, it was just an instant stop you in your tracks, can't kill this mob problem. I personally don't enjoy quests that I have to avoid because of some mechanic that will make me useless and unable to complete (or even worse when one doesn't realize it until they're already deep into the quest and run into that mob).

Didn't you realize the games are made for the lowest common denominator? And with the current USA school system that gets VERY LOW indeed.

I think the change was made so the new hybrid casters can function against liches. Both Dragon Disciple and Arcane Trickster lose half or more of their output against liches otherwise.

well, that's how casters feel in every quest that has constructs, so why can't the new archetype, and some other builds, struggle with 19 enemies in the whole game?

Yeah but that used to be the norm. You forget Deathward, you're gonna get PK'd and have to restart. In certain quests, you had to plan around the traps if you didn't have evasion or trapping skills. If you fell off the islands in VoN6, better luck next time. Forgot your boots in ToD? Tough luck, hope you enjoy your free trip back to the Marketplace.

Increasingly the game is biased towards the long grind of past life accumulation and it's resulted in a dumbing down of core D&D mechanics because it's easier to grind down the speed bumps so players can go faster (while selling them things to speed up the grind like XP pots and boxes) than it's been to conceptualize any kind of catch-up mechanism for new players or to improve the endgame so that players who've gotten all the PLs still have a reason to log in.

Mummy rot used to mean something, dang it.

I'm curious what the best choices are for the anniversary gift- the items that are hardest to come by. What is everyone taking?

Well, Cordon have already said they are going to switch to "vertical youtube content", didn't he ? 😁 So, Soon (TM).
I did not say that. However, we are expanding our video content to align with our players' viewing habits, which are increasingly watching vertical videos, similar to wider trending. It's pretty common these days to see 80% or more of your views come from vertical videos instead of horizontal, mostly a reflection of people's shorter form viewing habits happening on their phones.
