I wasn't paying attention to the fact that the worlds were down so I tried to log in. Obviously I couldn't, but why does it tell me my password is incorrect when the worlds are down? Talk about a panic moment.

I tried logging in a little over 2 hours into the downtime and was able to do so. The client just showed all the worlds being down. Just tried again with the same result. Are you 100% sure you didn't mistype your password?
Got a panicked msg from a friend trying to log in getting the password thing, and I got the same after trying to clarify it's just displaying wrong msg. This was... roughly 2 hours ago. Now logging in fine to see servers closed.

Edit: so yes, 100% sure wasn't just mistyped password.

Would be nice if they could get their act together and let us know in advance what the actual downtime is going to be (and on what day). Too often lately, they change the day on very short notice and extend the downtime with no advance notice at all...

I understand that unforeseen problems can occur, but when it happens as often as it does lately, it just suggests poor planning.

Ok, then. Nevermind...(not that the lack of communication between techs and PR folks makes it a lot better)

I had to go through that paniced moment last week.
I feared, that my more than a decade-old account got hacked, then found relief in the forum, seeing that other people have the same problem.

Such a false error message is really something that shouldnt happen and from a software design perspective i fear, that todays SSG devs have to battle some really old "inpolite" code as we say.

Hmm... Maybe in addition to the game servers there are password servers that go down for part of the total duration and that's when you get the "wrong password" error message. To be clear I'm just speculating here, but it seems like a sensible explanation.

My password didn't work, to login to DDO or at https://myaccount.standingstonegames.com/home.php
I am 100% certain I was typing it correct, I also tried copy/pasting it in. that didn't work
There was no email about my password changing or expiring.

So I've changed it once more. Got an email followed the instructions the new password now works

I didn't have $1680 stolen from me this time.
I'm thinking that I can't trust DDO any more.

Gave it a few hours to see if the issues cleared on its own - it did not. Resetting my password worked.
