Downtime Notice: Wednesday, July 10th 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM Eastern (-4 GMT)

Mobius

I see what you did there
Im just here for my free stuff!!!!!

It's not about freebies at all, it's about preparation. Evenings are for questing aka DDO quality time. Time spent beforehand logging into multiple servers to do banking & juggling inventory items means that I can just dive right into the action later.

To the (arguably) 'constructive' critics out there, I have a question for you all - what comparable game out there is as feature rich as DDO? I won't list out my limited time with other games at this point, but suffice to say as of yet I haven't found anything with as much environmental interaction as this game - think puzzles, levels/switches, hidden-doors, traps, altars, keys and the like. The few other games I have tried are basically the old(old) video arcade game Gauntlet - run around, combat and collect stuff you pick up.
What SSG fails to understand, as do some of their most ardent supporters on this forum, is that criticism is often provided in an attempt to make the product (DDO) better. Those who cannot see the value in the ideas provided in this criticism are failing to be good stewards of the brand.

“We love DDO just as much as they do. But in a different way. You see, they love DDO like a 4-year-old loves his mommy. Critics love DDO like grown-ups. To a 4-year-old, everything Mommy does is wonderful and anyone who criticizes Mommy is bad. Grown-up love means actually understanding what you love, taking the good with the bad and helping your loved one grow.”

I believe the above, modified, Al Franken quote can be applied pretty often to the discussions on these forums.

Nice reply or comment, man!! I don't know if saying those words can help someone.

Very true. The trouble I have is it's hard not to express frustration without sounding too harsh. Sometimes I wonder if it's better not to say anything, or if they really do hear the feedback and apply it where they can even if it isn't how I want it applied. I don't like contributing to a toxic mood, but I also wish some things were done better.

Did Al Franken have kids when he said this? Did he ever actually interact with them when they were 4? It's an out of touch statement.

The critics I was looking to call out, as I saw it, aren't acting like rational adults, but more like an over-tired four year told 'no'.

I get this, but then why waste time on, oh, the nonsense vip rewards program? Free year of the dragon stuff ?

If you don't have time, don't waste it on useless things.
