So Im old enough to remember when weekly maintenance wasnt a thing and the downtime just happened at the roll of a d20 without warning, at any time, usually taking days (not just hours.) I may be misremembering but I'm pretty sure I can recall at least twice when the downtime was nearly a week. As annoying as this can sometimes be its better than what we used to endure.

if the constant lag and rubber banding was getting fixed, if I saw performance improve, or bugs that have been around forever getting fixed I wouldn't mind the extended downtimes. but they cancel an update and now extend the downtime even more? Amazing what software companies get away with.

And yes I do maintenance scheduling and planning. If I impacted the production schedule all the time because I couldn't accurately plan my work I'd be looking for a new job.

As we'll have lost a day of playtime to "Downtime" in the last week, I sure hope the weekly bonus and freebie and better than some stupid crafting bonus and lameass rage pots..........

Sorry to report that we need additional time for the maintenance work. We are extending the downtime window an additional two hours to 11pm Eastern.

Maintenance for infrastructure is perfectly acceptable. I have no problem with this. I've been there. I have no problems with the game occasionally being down for hours or even a full day once in awhile.

The problem I have, as a paying customer (ddo points, new expansion, updated expansions, etc.), is you guys seem to care less and less about your users' time. People get off work, and want to just relax and get some levels for past lives, or reaper xp, etc. And the mid-week is completely inaccessible now. Add to that, randomly getting severe lag in some dungeon instances, rubberbanding often, and the endless amount of bugs that never get fixed even with these long downtimes. I see posts from 2023, 2022, (or older).. about bugs I find, and they go unread and unfixed.

In the past, I've seen you hand out 50% xp pots or give extra multi-XP bonuses to make up for lost leveling time, which was cool and made perfect sense. You lose a day of leveling, but you can make up for some lost time later on. It costs you nothing, and makes users happy.

But after the last (two? three?) extended maintenance, all we got was a weak regularly scheduled weekend bonus. "sorry you couldn't play on wednesday. here's your garbage weekend bonus that does nothing for most of the population."

I really regret buying the next expansion now. And I feel extra stupid because I bought the ultimate, because I wanted to support the devs.

This is why I let my VIP run out and refuse to buy the new expansion. Why they get their acts straight then I'll reconsider giving them my money

With this being said..... Perhaps a special something for everyone having to lose basically a day of play time? Also, I really hope the lagging in the game doesn't continue to be poor on a daily bases after this update.

A note saying "Enormous effort has been put into reducing lag, when the worlds open up please play a lot and let us know if things are looking better" would be plenty enough to excuse any amount of downtime.

Far better than "the level 14 hireling no longer has Epic Destinies and is just a useless hireling now"...

This. I don't mind losing the play time today, i felt grass earlier, kind of hurt but otherwise enjoyable. Went fishing, cleaned house, did chores, etc.

BUT: we HAVE to see some performance improvements. As a raid pusher, being locked in place for several seconds to even sometimes a minute is not okay. I don't even care about "compensation" I don't want/need it. I want/need a healthier performing game. Fingers crossed these extended downtimes lately put a fix to that.

this 13 hr maintenance should have commenced at like 0100 hrs, so the majority of people could play the next afternoon
That would start at 10pm PST which I play at night...you can't satisfy everyone. We all play at different times. I do agree that this comes at a really bad time since I too was thinking about buying the expansion, but now? Is it worth it?

This is Cordos response about it fixing lag. So don't get your hopes up.

No, not directly. This work is more about maintaining the technology and game deployment environment.

With 1 downtime extension usually comes others.

Our next guild raids are at 11 am EST on Saturday and Sunday. I hope it's up by than.

I was talking earlier with other longtime players that have never seen the quarterly/yearly downtime maintenance you mentioned earlier in your posts.

The only thing that feels like a common occurrence is the game being down for 1 day a week.

It's a work in progress, with the age of the game it won't be a night and day difference in one weekly downtime, even three for that matter.

I have something important to report.

I just did 50 pushups and I feel absolutley fantastic.

Is this normal?

I'm freaking out. I need my DDO to take me back into my normal semi-vegetative grinding state.

I'm scared.
Unsure if normal or not, make a poll so we can decide as a community.
