What do you think they are actually doing? Its a lot of cords......but sometimes they skip a few hundred. Its why weekly maintenance is sometimes shorter. Today they are just unplugging them all and plugging them back in 20 minutes later. They are doing this in large batches. Hence why its taking so long.Did you try unplugging for a couple minutes and plugging back in?
I think I'm fairly strong with the Enthusiasm, but SSG somehow sap a lot if it away, like
You do know that is still illegal in some states. But if all your going to do is touch it, then maybe it's good.Well, i guess today is the day I go outside for the first time in however many years. Maybe ill touch that weird green stuff, I think you guys call it "grass"?
My guess is they switched to Wednesdays so if an update doesn't go well, they'd still have the next weekday to work on a fix and then Friday for another downtime before the weekend.I believe Thursday's used to be the scheduled downtime day. Not sure why the change to wednesdays, but I personally prefer it to be predictable.
Damn..all those math classes I took I college and I'm still dumb.He was basing the cost off of a yearly DISCOUNTED rate.
Likewise, you are basing it off of a 3 month DISCOUNTED rate.
You should be basing the cost off of the monthly subscription rate. That is roughly 49 cents for a day lost. You're only charging 33.
SSG is making out like a bandit.
Yes, this exactly. I see a lot of extended downtimes to improve things, but no improvements. What are they doing exactly?I don't care what adjustments are being made but after all of the extended maintenance and extensions to the extended maintenance it would be nice to see an improvement in performance which so far we have not.
No, not directly. This work is more about maintaining the technology and game deployment environment.
They aren't improving anything. They are just trying to prove they do something, aka nothing.Yes, this exactly. I see a lot of extended downtimes to improve things, but no improvements. What are they doing exactly?
Probably upgrading from 5400 IDE to 10k SCSI, upgrading the 10MB switches to 100MB, blowing dust out the rack, cleaning the gunk off the mouse ball wheels, degauss the monitors, maybe run memmaker if there is enough time...lol, does maintaining the technology and game deployment environment actually mean anything ? Sorry, but I have to call out blatant techno-babble.![]()
Actually it's this:SSG DDO game server technology and game deployment environment.

They explained what they were doing in the initial downtime post...As someone who knows how to repair cars, it isn't some big, unexplainable mystery when it comes to those repairs anyway. Without explaining every bolt that must be loosened, they can tell you if they are rotating the tires, changing the oil, replacing the air filter, and changing out your radiator fluid, for example. If they don't do that, and you just pay for "Maintenance," you are probably getting ripped off.
Now it could be that server maintenance is something so technical that it can't be explained in simple terms, but I doubt it.
We apologize for the extended duration of recent maintenance windows. This work is varied but includes quarterly and yearly maintenance related work in addition to engineering and resource adjustments to improve the health of the game environment.
I think that's only if it's 4:20. At least that's what I heard from Chappelle.Well, i guess today is the day I go outside for the first time in however many years. Maybe ill touch that weird green stuff, I think you guys call it "grass"?
