People always ask for VIP compensation... but there are a lot of players who have bought all the xpacks and hundreds of dollars worth of DDO points over the years, which helps support keeping these servers alive. Everyone should get equal compensation, if something is given.

What part of VIP are you not understanding? We are Very Important People! You sound like the kind of person I wouldn't allow into my country club except to clean it! Good day, sir!

Welcome to DDO! The last few years there's been a code given out around December that gives away pretty much all the content, except the Expansions, which also usually have discounted deals. They usually have pretty deep discounted deals from Black Friday and on through December in you plan on sticking with it.
Players should be able to pass a code like that to new players that join their guild, once the new player spends cash, goes vip the player could get a small reward, which would incentivize the player to help the new player stay in the game.

Even if it is thousands, it should not be equal compensation. non-VIPs are paying for content. VIPs pay for content *and* the time.

Sorry, you're completely wrong. You have no idea what the price value is from 1 user to another 1 user. Some guy could have dropped $100 (to buy non-content services), which fuels the company to stay afloat. Another person could have paid $15 for 2 months. You'll never win that argument, because time is time (for everyone.) Being a VIP or non-VIP does not prevent you from spending time in the game. The difference for downtime is zero between the 2.

On a side note (in general), I'm also not saying I expect entitled compensation. I'm just saying if they decide to, they should just give everyone 1 sovereign XP potion or something. No need to cater to special cases, and piss off users further. Happy players = spend more money.

No, I am not wrong. Only VIP members pay for time during the time that the outage occurs. Everyone else got the content that they paid for. VIP members lose what they pay for when they lose time.

The added downtime is less than a few pennies of my $8.34/month subscription. When will I get my 3 cents?
Now if only we could pay in cent increments to be VIP only while playing ;)

Unexpected downtime will affect people differently. Some people weren't going to be on at all so are entirely unaffected. Some people might only get on once per week or w/e and downtime affected them considerably.

You are totally missing the point. VIP is equivalent to renting content. If you stop paying, even 1 day late, you lose access. Downtime reduces the value. Compensation, in this scenario, would mean VIPs should get something in return since they are getting less value. If you bought, your value is not diminished.
