Update 70.1.1 Release Notes​

Here are the release notes for Update 70.1.1, released on Wednesday, November 20th, 2024.

News and Notes:​

• This update includes experimental physics optimizations aimed at mitigating some of the largest sources of game performance degradation seen in recent weeks. However, some conditions under which these problems occur only happen during particularly heavy server load, and that can be a challenge to diagnose. Several iterations of these changes may be necessary to fine tune the player experience.
• The Mount and Pet stable on Cormyr should no longer lose track of Mounts and Pets that are added to it. Additionally:
• Some Creature Companions and Mounts that went missing during a server issue on Cormyr in October have now been returned. Please read further for more information:
  • The following Mounts have been restored to accounts without further action necessary:
    • Year of the Dragon Ground Bound Green Dragon Steed
    • Mounts earned from Patron's Coffers: Underdark Warrior's Panther, Warforged Steed, Astral Traveler's Riding Drake, Necromancer's Skeletal Steed
    • The Keep on the Borderlands Bonus Items Steed of the Borderlands
    • Mounts from the following expansions:
      • Magic of Myth Drannor: Elven Marksman Steed and Red Wizard Carpet Creature Companion Steed

By the end of the year? That's awfully optimistic. Better to ask if they'll ever be fixed. Memoirs is out here setting precedent for just removing quests when they can't make 'em work.

People have been working hard to get these non-working weapons. And considering the pitiful quest drop rate, we would at least expect raid loot to work.

Fixing the issue with Mounts and Pets is one step towards eventually opening 64-bit servers for people to transfer to. The reason why it looks like most of the "fixes" are centered on Cormyr is that they have not fixed all the Mount and Pet issues so detailing what has been fixed and what hasn't takes up more space. If they had fixed all of it, then they could have reduced that whole section to the line of "Fixed all the issues of Mounts and Pets on Cormyr.". They are releasing what has been fixed while still working on what hasn't and giving us specifics instead of waiting and rolling it out altogether.

• The quest "Memoirs of an Illusory Larcener" has been permanently retired from the game due to irreconcilable performance issues. Unique treasure from the quest will be re-located to a different quest in the near future.

So, while it looks like it is Cormyr only the effects are trickling down to all servers as they improve overall game performance. This was only possible to understand how much the quest was affecting game performance because of Cormyr. While this is a preview from other threads (details from discord) it looks like they won't be changing their minds about it before it rolls out.
