Hard crashes. Launcher is very very fast, but game client hard crashes to desktop every time.

I had to use the Tor browser to even get the download page on www.ddo.com to load.
With hearing that others are having to use a VPN to get around the crashing, somethings wrong with routing or blocking somewhere. Still doesn't explain why the launcher works but client hard crashes.

The install program for DDO has a registration link to turbine.com.

But the installer locks up briefly on this screen as it trys to check/install directx, so the link cannot even be clicked on...

Sorry to the people still having issues. The last 2 times i logged in have been fine, so whatever they did fixed it for some of us.

I was able to log in. Thanks for the work done. I must say, thou, I also cleaned the temp folder from windows, as someone recommended, so not totally clear about what solution did work.
Thanks again!

So by wiping my computer totally and erasing all traces of DDO and turbine, and reinstalling, now it works again!
But not correctly!

Now, I get the unknown publisher error when I start the launcher. I have to type the admin password to run the launcher.
Note, this is NOT the UAC, user account control prompt. This isn't about admin permissions needed to write to the programfiles folder. It's because the dndlauncher.exe is NOT SIGNED by SSG. DNDclient is signed! but not the launcher.

I don't know why I never had this problem before, but I have had the game installed from way back atari days. So, turning off UAC, giving full control, write, etc to the current user, none of this stops the would you like to run this software from an unknown publisher prompt!

So what's the problem? When this prompt comes up, it switches the profile settings from the current user to the admin user. So what? So you LOSE all your saved keymaps and graphic settings etc, and everyone on the computer is forced to use the same set on the admins.

I have NOT tried to move/install to outside the programfiles folder, mainly because it just took 4 hours to install. But I am open to suggestions?

Should I just use a third party launcher from now on, especially since the official launcher caused all this to begin with?

Final note: (yay goes the crowd)

After a fresh install, ddodatdefragger silently destroys the huge gamehi res dat. It appears to work fine, but will trigger the official launcher to fail it, and if you run ddodatdefrag again, it will crash on the hiresdat.

Also, using dungeonfinder, recommend it!

I used VPN and suddenly the launcher got its files smoothless. Now I can launch the game again even without VPN.

I Don't know if the update Cordovan is talking about has made the improvement or it is a different problem.
Launcher was still bad after server maintanece.

I tried Launching from a different country few hours after game was up again after service the 27th nov.

Now I don't have problems starting the game. Lag is only in game

I saw someone mention this in a previous post. I've not experimented with it myself, but the consensus was that anything below 50% success rate. You can't use a booster on. I am not sure when this changed happened, but im pretty sure when i was level crafting my toon i was using crafting boosts on shards with a lower success rate than 50%.

Nothing is mentioned on the wiki, but looking at last years posts on crafting guides (ppl were advising you to pick a shard with a 3% success rate and applying the booster to it), it seems to indicate this has happened recently.
Works fine still.
