If things hold true to recent archetypes, we probably won't see a formal preview for it until a few weeks out from when it releases.

IMHO, My guess would be that the devs will take the Dragonborn enhancements tree and add the following:

Replace Charisma in that dragonborn enhancements tree with Wisdom.

Dragon Disciple tree replaces the Henshin Mystic tree.

Dragon Disciple Past Life: 1 additional Step of the Wind per past life. Similar to Eladrin's Fey Step.

  • Draconic Presence. If you fail a Charisma (Intimidation) or Charisma (Persuasion) check, you can use your reaction to reroll the check like a rogue reroll, as you tap into the mighty presence of dragons. Once this feature turns a failure into a success, you can’t use it again until you finish a rest at a shrine.
  • Draconic Strike: When you damage a target with an unarmed strike, you have energy bypass based on your stance. Fire bypass, Cold bypass, Lightning bypass, Acid bypass. We don't have a poison stance right now, maybe we'll have one.
  • Draconic Breath: At 3rd level the dragon incarnate can channel destructive waves of energy, like those created by the dragons, i.e. acid/cold/fire/lightning or poison. When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can replace one of the attacks with an exhalation of draconic energy in either a 20-foot cone or a 30-foot line that is 5 feet wide. At 11th level, these attacks becomes 3 martial arts die instead of 1 martial arts die. The number of times you can do this is increased every 5 dragon disciple class levels, starting w/2 -> 6 at level 20. The dragon disciple restores all these uses upon resting at a shrine; or expend of some ki (? 20 ki ?) The damage will increase based on elemental spell power items and filigrees.
  • Wings Unfurled: As a dragon disciple you have spectral draconic wings. They extend when you use Step of the Wind which is like abundant step but no Ki usage. I guess this is similar to the cosmetic we have now with the lightning wings. The usage is the same as the number of usages for Draconic Breath but on a separate countdown.
  • Frightful Presence: As a dragon disciple at 11th level or above; you'll have a draconic aura like dragonlord, but not as OP. The monsters you frightened will stay frightened but not disappear or dead. Also, this is Wisdom DC check against the dragon disciple's Ki check, not intimidate check like the visage. Also, this does not work against undead, golems or monsters that cannot be afraid. (They should fix DragonLord's OP Dragon Roar already!!!)
  • The Aura above also grants 5/- resistance per dragon disciple level to the energy type the dragon disciple has the stance on. i.e. Fire resistance on fire stance, etc. Cooldown: 1 minute, Lasting 1m per dragon disciple class level. Teammates within the aura also have this energy resistance. Can expend 30 ki to recreate this aura again.
  • Blindsight: At level 17+, the dragon disciple can fight even though he/she is blind out to 10 ft.
  • Augment Breath: the dragon disciple at level 17+ can change the shape of the Draconic Breath to a larger 60ft cone or 90ft line, which is 2x longer than Draconic Breath. Sort of like an enlarged spell version of Draconic Breath.
  • Aspect of the Wyrm: At level 17+ the dragon disciple can activate Explosive Fury. This is similar to Energy Burst, but not as good. The monsters must succeed on a dexterity savings throw based on the dragon disciple's Ki level. Ki usage: 50

Or they could bring back monk archer...

Nah, if they did ranged monk, I'm sure it would involve some sort of crossbow.

Moving on, what type of elf are the dev's going to pick for next years expansion and will it be compatible with the monk crossbow build?

For variety's sake, the next races will be Dargonesti, Kagonesti, Silvanesti, Qualinesti and Dimernesti.

it will be handwrap based. They seem determined to get people to use handwraps ever since they nerfed them out of the game. I'm looking at you shapeshifter barb and you paladin archetype.

I am very hyped for Disciple and this could be the thing that got me playing in a regular basis again. I can't wait to get some news on this archetype :)

It will be oriented around Single Weapon Fighting, using a Club, leaning into Sap and Shatter Feats.

J/K, I hope it’s good, and the Monk pass is Great.

Anyway... it's a monk archetype, don't remember if we've been told anything else.

WAT?

I guess by 5e standards, which we're mostly using now, that kind of makes sense. In 3.5 it was more of a Sorcerer PrC. Since we just got a Sorc Archtype I've been wracking my brain over what they would do with DD.
