No, non, nyet! Never again for a Drow shortsword build! It's a trap!!!
Hmm... look man, I'm really new to this game, and idk why are you telling me this, but in my case, I just want to be HAPPY! building for fun and enjoying gameplay only, not for competition!

If is the case I want to be competitive, for sure I'll ask for help here in the forum or search on google/reddit but not the case at the moment

So, the Drow shortsword build is not a trap for me

Make sure you get the Tiefling assassin blade and then Razorend for heroics. For epics, there are more options like the Cutthroat one or Drow short sword BUT there are none with the expanded threat range that I am aware of for legendary

There are quite a few interesting named shortswords out there. I had a Drow Barbarian multiclass build using shortswords many years ago. I think its something you can have fun with.

The main problem for shortswords is that the damage is pircing. The worst kind of damage if you keep in mind the general DR of monsters.

Slash > Blud > Piercing

The problem with shortswords plain and simple is that there are more effective weapons in the game and so any build that you make with shortswords will be defective from a competitive point of view.

This is primarily because different weapon characteristics are not fully represented in the game and instead only the damage that they do is fully represented.

This makes a 1-6 x19-20 weapon automatically inferior to a 1-8 x19-20 or 1-6 x18-20 weapon.

There are exceptions for certain weapons that occur in certain enhancement trees, including racial trees, however shortsword does not get a significant benefit from any tree, including Drow, that makes up the difference from what is available elsewhere.

The fact that animation speeds are the same for most one-handed weapons takes away one of the benefits that shortswords would give and gives nothing back in return.

OP really wants to try shortswords and that is a noble ambition, seeing how things work is worthwhile. In this case it will come with a power differential in the process.

Use Cosmetic shortswords for the look, this way you can equip optimal damagers with impunity.

Valid perspective in my opinion. Fun and enjoyment is pretty much the entire point of PvE games.

As a bonus, as long as you're not interested in running high skull reapers, the devs have dumbed the game down enough that you can do perfectly well in hard/elite difficulty with even moderately bad flavor builds these days.

The problem if they made expanded crit range or crit multi for legendary then people would more likely only use those that have it.

with next update Vistani will allow to use kukris which do slash damage and 15-20/x3 crit range/multiplier
compared to daggers piercing damage and 16-20/x3 FYI
Kukris now function with this tree, with the exception of the core 12, which only gives +1 multiplier (this keeps them in parity crit-wise with daggers as they naturally have +1 threat range over them.

Knife Spec T5 Assassin - You gain a +1 Competence bonus to Critical Damage Multiplier with Daggers and Kukris. Daggers also gain a +1 Competence bonus to Critical Threat Range. If you have Improved Critical: Piercing, this bonus to Threat Range is doubled
