Druid 15/DL5 Bear/Wolf Suggestions

I was thinking about playing through a few ugly racial lives as bears and wolf. the 15/5 Druid/DL split seems pretty solid for this.

I play a lot of melees, but haven't done an animal life in forever.

Any suggestions for what feats to take, what to skip?

Thanks!

The synergy between Dragonlord and animal forms isn't actually too great, I would recommend barb over it hands down. A lot of the melee power you get in animal form (21 points) is locked behind using barb or animal rage, which you get so many bonuses for in the Nature's protector tree. If you had to make it work with DL, 12 druid seems like all you would need as it gets you Great Maul, 15 only really gives you 8th level spells so you can have heal. 8 DL would give you extra feats, so you could take dodge+mobility, WW and Spring attack. Alternatively, 8 barb would give you Improved Uncanny Dodge, better rages, and more DPS. Only downside is you'd have to go through a universal tree for your trance.
For feats I would start with power attack and then do the 3 natural fightings, fitting imp. critical [desired choice] in when you can. Make sure your first three level are druid to unlock the natural fighting line, and then do whatever other class you're splashing.

To me, Dlord gives displacement, dragons roar, and the crit multiplier. If I did this as a shifter, does that racial rage count for the goodies in epics?

The DL is good enough to make it a good build. Great even. It still feels kinda bad because you have to give up a lot in the NP and/or NW tree and the non-raged restriction for the STR trance is anti-synergistic.

Yes, but with a caveat. Shifter rages work fine in epics (EDs, Blood Feast) but you cannot use STR trance from DL while raging; so CHA based would be the way to go in theory.

Edit/side note. Pls understand i havent run a DL yet so... a CHA based DL is already disadvantaged for STR based ability checks such as Sunder. To minimize this, choose race wisely. Having said that, Shifter could work ok by using improved roar (Wis/Dex rage) as debuff, but thats another button to click. Aasimar would be ok-ish, only 18 Cha at start but +3 and iiirc 3rd core can provide +2 tactical DCs. But on paper, PDK is the way to go, but in this case you'd need a lesser HoW (and it isn't the aim of the OP). As for split, a 12 FvS 8 DL could be easy even if losing some dps.
