Good shout with the weaknesses of shuri - it may do a lot of damage, but those drawbacks balance it out. It’s a cool, powerful, and still somewhat niche style, especially in any content besides specialized endgame pushes.I suspect many of the ranged balance problems are with burst and burst windows. Shiradi EM and NHB/Fusilade really stand out, especially in combination. It's also coupled to monster hit points where anything you can finish in one burst gets really easy. This is perhaps not fully reflected in the current difficulty scaling and balance discussion.
Shuri may be the only ranged build that has substantially higher sustained damage, due to stacking of double shot. It's slow leveling and lacking AoE options make it not great for anything except end-game sustained damage though. I think this is why we hear less complaints about Shuri.

Still though, incredible to me, as my melee (which is still missing a lot of burst staples, like Madstone) I’m pretty sure doesn’t do 70k lol
Using a Ki Bolt Winter Wolf right now (Druid with enough Monk and Arcane Trickster to get Ki Bolt and full Caster Levels), Cold Spec'd, I start around ~50k DPS with no buffs/debuffs and get ~175k DPS with buffs/debuffs that I can apply myself (on Elite). The list of things does take a while to stack, so the high-end DPS is only really achieved with raid bosses or other large bags of hit points, as that list includes:Another niche build is Ki Bolt with Mantle, it might even be stronger now with the pierce feats. I wonder what kind of DPS you can get of that these days. You could technically play it as pure monk for most of the DPS, so I struggle to call it "caster".
I was able to log on yesterday and casually smack down experiment Y in the Lamordia wilderness in about 16 seconds. 1.5 million hp. I don’t even even think I got full archers focus stacks. This build is v good. I’ll try and test more when I can.I just tested it. 2 minutes and 20 seconds is what I took with my 4 Arty, 16 AT GXB build. I dont have the best gear or that many past lives but I do have Acrida so the weapon itself is pretty good.
I had to heal once and also had to keep moving the entire time. I dont have Shot on the Run and noticed I had *many* glancing blows with a Greater Heroism, Precision and Eerie Aim. But my Int is only 75.
During the 30 seconds of Inexorable Advance I did about 40% of my damage, then the remaining 60% of the damage took 110 seconds.
