If you want to know more about Bluesky there's an article about it and where it's going from WIRED. It's going to be so much more than just a social media platform from what I read.

If this cost even $5 of someones time to setup, the money was better spent fixing (lol) 1 bug.

The llast thin ddo needs is more politics. Especially somewhere like bluesky where peoples careers go to die.

So, because someone here posted that bluesky was one side of some sort of isle, it's inherently political? My wife loves bluesky, she follows academic researchers of medieval history, Geologists, and fiction writers that she likes. For her that is it. Anything can be "political" if you wish to view it from that lens. Bluesky allows you to follow or block anyone. YOU can make it whatever environment you want it to be. It's "ok" to have a side, it's also "ok" to be on that side and not denigrate the "other side". You can simply live on your side, in peace, happiness and the comfort of liking where you are...

Kudos, I'm not on Bluesky but I don't need to make an account or use workarounds to view Bluesky posts.
(Twitter posts used to be publicly viewable)

Mastodon's getting fairly big. The main server is similar to Bluesky and used by some companies. I imagine if DDO had an account on there it would be on the main server or a gaming specific server.

I'm glad Reddit still has the Old.Reddit mode, hope that doesn't get ditched the way Facebook did with Mbasic.

I'm not likely to tune into many long podcast type videos, but I am looking forward to watching the Joys of Deving a few times.

Lately I think I check on Reddit about weekly, Youtube about monthly, and Discord about bi-monthly? I have rotten luck with the Discord, seems whenever I log on it's when someone's spewing bile in the official channels :/

you guys do realize that the people who find all of the.. shall we call it political faults.... with dnd over the last few years are all gathered in that online version of mos eisley... and your game is based on the version/versions of the game these people with froth at the mouth about... this is at best a.... how do i put this softly..... hmmm..... the idea of this is kinda the same idea as a preist deciding to cast magic missle, having it not work... and wondering into thay to ask why..... the result will not be good anyway you imagine it....

have fun.....

BlueSky..... oof. Pretty sure thats the lefts echo chamber but its w/e. Strange times we are living in lol.
Bluesky 36M users as of April and is growing quickly. Such strange times when a gaming company uses a social media platform to announce things. They are just making announcements and trying to reach as many people as they can.

I can say that while things are quieter on the DDO side with BlueSky then on the pretty-busy-actually LOTRO side, DDO's BlueSky numbers are doing pretty good compared to Twitter, there are actual people there doing stuff and interested in having DDO and LOTRO there.

BlueSky is looking for numbers. Thus the expressed interest.

I understand where you are coming from, you definitely see number inflation throughout the social media landscape, but to date I have not seen indication of it with this one. In fact, the numbers track generally better with visible interactions.

And sadly opinions on such things are overly-influenced by political leanings.

Cant link the images themselves from Reddit but there's a good analysis there

Basically, the registered users have climbed since Nov 24 from 20M to 33M, but the daily posts and interactions have declined and stagnated

You only see a major spike around early Nov (the election) and late Jan (the inauguration)

Bluesky is still, at its core, mostly just about Trump (and Musk, but that's also about Trump)

Cf Threads, which followed a similar trend of spike, decline, and stagnation: https://techcrunch.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/threads-.png

Seems like the only political aspects of anything here, are the posters that are crying about politics. And those same people are the ones crying about DDO not doing enough to advertise and communicate. Of course, I get it. You want things only the way YOU want them. I don't think you are achieving very much here, but it's your dime.
