Echo of Whelm or Morninglord's Warhammer?

Talking about the sentient versions and wielded by a sword & board type toon, which is better? Morninglord has good, silver and 12d6 damage, but Whelm has plenty of critty vorpaly goodness, and despite my toon not single weapon fighting to boost the vorpal range, it looks quite powerful.

Personally, of the twol, I'd go Whelm. Certainly did back when I was dual wielding. Upgraded them both and used them on skellies and oozes, etc. I did take the imp crit bludgeon feat for moar vorpal love. ??

Improved crit does not increase the number of vorpal (rolling a 20) hits you do. It just expands the number of critical hits you do. Critical hit =/= Vorpal.

True, but you can easy convert KT runes, only 500 ppc.

If you want to have a Sorcerer or Druid nuker, keep in mind that you’ll also want Wave and you’ll want Wave more than you want Whelm.

I have wave, and the wave gem, but not enough shards to upgrade it, and virtually no kt runes.

Which flavor of wave is best for upgrade?

https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Reflection_of_Wave has the Water Elemental bonus. The orb does not. I would take the orb in a heartbeat if it had the Water Elemental bonus, but it doesn’t.

Reflection of Wave is delightful.

If in a helpful party, a couple will drop on elite (what I have seen anyway) and they can pass them. I think a lot of folks already have the gear by now so worth asking.
