Epic XP Save When?

Title might be a bit confusing because I don't know what it would be called. Didn't SSG say they were working on making epic XP work how legendary XP is working currently. I have a good number of heroic lives left that I don't want to use iconic for but I want to go to cap so I can do end game activities... If I level from 20-30 I get nothing because I am epic completionist already.

I was just wondering if anyone heard any news on this? I'm excited for this to be a thing so I can go from 20-cap :D
but if they did that, they wouldn't sell many otto boxes.

If you say Legendary TR, that implies it would be a kind of True Reincarnation – which would mean you lose all your favor, and you get to choose a new race, class and gender for your new life. I doubt that's what will happen. My assumption is that we'll get a Legendary Reincarnation like an ER has no T for "True", and with that we'd only lose our legendary experience and levels and get a legendary past life for it.

And then we grind 24m XP having already run all the dungeons and wilderness areas to get from 30 to 40.

I assume SSG will want us to buy 100% XP pots but unless there are massive changes to XP it simply wont work.

For 20 we run BOB and Borderlands which gets us a level. After using whatever heroic sagas we had left.

Then 21 to 24 is Orchard slayers.

Then we run a bunch of old dungeons for easy xp and tokens of the twelve.

Then its more slayers to 30.

Feels like it takes 5 or 6 hours. Maybe less.

Though we use major slayer and 50% xp pots.
And why should this be necessary if you have all the epic PLs and gain nothing for that 5-6 hours plus the resources used?

OP''s question is quite valid, even if you don't seem to get it.

I get it. These posts happen many times a year every year. SSG is aware of it and they dont care, because mostly the playerbase doesnt care that much.

If they are an everything (other than Iconic) completionist they should have plenty of points and can buy an Epic Ottos - for that one time a year where they need to get 3 new racial lives or 3 new archetype lives and then get back to cap.

Or suck it up and spend a few hours levelling - like the overwhelming majority do.

Or they could get an Iconic life.

There are many options available. They just dont like them.

Also, I like Pepsi.

Thank the gods for you, telling others they play the game wrong.
Perhaps, but he makes a solid point. I mean, seriously, if this is the issue people are planting a flag on then they are doing something wrong.

IMO this thread is completely ridiculous. People complaining about having to level a completionist type character from level 20-30 without a 'reward'.
'Oh its such a struggle playing my main without any incentives to level up through cakewalk levels in epics'... /s
🙄

I think it's sad that when someone points out an obvious place the game should be improved and they get replies along the lines of "SSG doesn't care" or "that's just the way it is, nothing can be done".

This is ridiculous. SSG makes the most money when they have happy players. They have limited resources, but they can and do occasionally fix/improve things. Not always, not even often, but it happens.

Posts like this are one way to raise awareness of the issue, which otherwise might be forgotten.

It's valid if you want to say that you don't believe this issue is important enough for devs to devote resources to fixing it, but to suggest there's not a problem is wrong.

Oh, and suggesting an iconic life just shows you really don't even understand the issue. Do you have a character with full epic lives? Is that character a racial and class completionist yet?

Because the number of racial/class/archetype lives greatly exceeds the number of epic lives, this is a scenario everyone who aspires to full completionist status will eventually encounter unless they constantly turn around at level 20.

If someone wants to spend some time at cap as a break from the racial grind, they shouldn't have to be taxed with a completely useless run from 20-30.

The OP is right.

I agree with OP. Though I haven't maxed out EPL's on anyone (since I'm a masochist and have 5 alts....), they will absolutely be maxed long before heroic lives.

When I reach that point, I will/would be quite annoyed to have to level t0 30 without another EPL.

What I would like to see, is the chance to get a racial or heroic life IF you are maxed on your EPLs. Just let people pick a past life like they do for EPL's now. (I think most of us hated the filling karma part of EPLs, much like some dont like the boring heroic lives they dont want to play)

I never understood why they made the decision to make those heroic only. Especially since it resets favor each life, and favor gives you points. I haven't had to spend a penny on this game in a decade because they heavily incentivized heroic lives which I feel certain took away money from them. I feel like that was a financial mistake on their part.

So you are choosing to do something where a far better solution is available and want someone else to take responsibility and make changes so your bad choice isnt as bad ?

Why not just stop getting Epic lives until you are further along with your Heroic lives?

You can get a Heroic/Archetype life combined with an Iconic life if you really want to go to cap without risking a precious Epic life.

The OP is right.

The poster I was responding to said they still have Iconic lives. So they could very easily do one of them to cap and when they TR get an Iconic and an Archetype/Heroic life.

People have the solution in front of them but dont want that. They want someone else to be responsible.

Id be very angry if SSG spent any time at all on this when there are far more pressing things they should be focussed on.

Because mindlessly grinding heroic life after heroic life is boring. And I don't want the game I play to be boring.

I'm not a teenager who got pregnant, I'm playing a game. That's why I'm not "taking responsibility" for my "bad choices". Get some perspective little fella. A game doesn't need me to make a 5 year plan. Smooch!

But the vein popping rage is highly amusing, so please continue to provide us all entertainment! I LOVE when people internet rage!

Again you show how you don't understand the issue. If the OP is interested in playing a particular build at cap that precludes an iconic due to class restrictions or other considerations, that is not a solution.

It's possible, of course, to pay for an LR+1 to get around one issue with iconics, but that is simply transferring the wasted time/xp pots expense to a different expense. And if there are specific reasons to use a non-iconic race for the preferred build, the LR wouldn't help anyway.

You're certainly entitled to say that this is not a priority for you (it's not my highest priority either), but stop trying to suggest it's not a problem just because leveling to 20-30 is not hard. It's still takes long enough that folks shouldn't have to waste time or resources to do for zero reward.

Plays an MMO.
Doeant like grinding.

Hrmmmm.
Doesn't like *pointless* grinding.

Checks out for me. There's enough grinding to do in this game that serves an actual purpose. No need to force people to grind for no reward.

Maybe you are new-ish to the game (seems likely based on your lack of understanding of the issue). Some of us were well on our way to class completionist before iconics even existed...

And grinding multiple epic PLs per heroic life was a thing before the first archetype appeared...

Don't think that what looks like the optimal path for a new character today is the path that was available for folks who have been playing for two decades.

Before racials too iirc. Between racials and archetypes that is an immense amount of heroic lives added after EPLs were added. Typically I would go 2-3 EPLs per heroic. After that it just got too painful without first time bonuses and slayers available.

The only concern I have with letting people skip epics is that there wouldn't be as many people in those levels to play with. That's why I suggested letting people select a heroic past life in lieu of just getting.......nothing. But an option to skip to legendary OR get a heroic life of their choice if maxed out on EPLs would be a great solution to that. I think heroic life grinders would be happy to see that, as epic lives are generally faster (and to me more fun) than heroic lives.

And also, might be good for SSGs bottom line if you were grinding heroic lives in epics, since favor doesn't reset and hence less points distributed.

Edit: And to the devs, I am a retired engineer and would be happy to code that up for you. You can pay me in DDO points and chest re-rolls! :p

Fair point that epic levels would grow unpopulated with this change. Maybe that's the discussion we should be having. How should characters who have all Epic Past Lives be rewarded for leveling 20-30?

A full heroic life seems a bit excessive given that heroic lives take considerably longer, but something could be done.

My wish (which is also probably too much) would be a BTC +20 LR heart or a wish for memories. These would be great for folks who really like one build for leveling but want to get benefits of other archetypes/races.

Edit: A more realistic thought. How about a choice of heart of wood or blood? Many folks would get these anyways if they run old low level epic content. But this would free them to run more epic content that doesn't give tokens.

I could get behind a wish or +20 heart. I've got too many tokens laying around from the level cap 20 days to need the reincarnation hearts though. You want to make a DDO player cry? Link a huge stack of tokens in chat while they are doing DA for tokens. :)

New item: Soul XP Vessel........fill this with X amount of epic xp. Can be redeemed for a heroic past life of your choice.

That way you would spend some more time in epics (since they are much faster) and could still get some character progression.

I think it's becoming apparent some people who play are maxed out on EPLs, reaper points, heroic PLs etc. That's just what comes with a long time dedicated player base. (I am maxed out on none of those fwiw). And those players are going to need some sort of progression added to keep them playing.

So the discussion SHOULD definitely be how can we reward these players, as you suggested. It's an old game, people have been playing for a LOOOOONNNGGGG time. And they need something incentives to keep them playing as well.
