I'll be healing on Moonsea. My ping to Vegas is about the same to the lotro EU server. Also I tend to roll with Brotherhood of Blades for raiding.

Almost everyone I've talked to on cannith from US is going to Thrane. The EU players are going to Moonsea. Since I'm going to Thrane, I will not see them anymore. What an odd way to word that. Cannith will be losing all players to different servers.
As an Azure engineer, I can tell you that physical distance does not matter as much as packet hand off. My ping to Ireland is better than my ping to Vegas. NYC across the country is a hodgepodge of MPLS handoffs versus the transatlantic fiber from Boston. I am sure the devs up in Boston experience the same when pushing files.Just because I've been curious, Tokyo to Amsterdam is about 500 km further than Tokyo to Las Vegas.
New York City to Amsterdam is over 1100 miles (over 1800 km) further than NYC to Last Vegas.
So some East Coast Americans might choose the EU server, but Las Vegas is quite a bit better for them. It looks like Asians will be able to pick whatever they think is best since there isn't much difference in distance one way or the other.
From what I'm reading, it looks like there's going to be a great EU communityIn the hope that more players will be online in the European afternoon/evening, I will gradually switch to Moonsea with all characters.
If we all join together, we should be enough players for a healthy guild
It's not that odd. If all the servers were in one place (which is basically how it has been for many years) then people will move together with their friends and guild members. People would simply all say, "let's go here" and everyone would go. But because the divide is now being made regional, where it wasn't when we first picked our servers, a lot of people will be parting ways, not because they want to separate from each other, but simply because different servers are located closer to their homes. What an odd way to word that. This is really sad. Even the guild I'm currently in on Orien will be moving to the American servers. I'm truly very disappointed.Almost everyone I've talked to on cannith from US is going to Thrane. The EU players are going to Moonsea. Since I'm going to Thrane, I will not see them anymore.
I was on Devourer too!I have started playing on the German server Dorn back in the day...then Devourer, Ghallanda and now Orien. I have lost touch with many people over the years (obviously many people just quit) and hope that I will meet some of my old guildies from another time back on Moonsea.
I'm playing quite a bit in the mornings and am a bit worried if there will be players on at that time.
There will not be a 64Bit East coast serverI'm in Germany but most of my regular group is based on the US. That being said, as of this posting I've not spoken with my group about their intentions. Just assuming they'll chose an US East Coast server as a middle-ground. Even then it's still a toss up, as it's just as likely that folks are as undecided as I am.
Expecting to see a lot of guilds and regular players going their separate ways after the transfer.

It's reasonable to be sad. If we were already divided regionally, it wouldn't be an issue. But since we have been playing on globally diverse servers for 15 years and now are going to play on regionally divided servers, it is reasonable that some people will feel a loss from all the people they will probably never play with again.
if everyone is losing to moonsea, it sounds like moonsea is the clear winnerYour wording was odd - you are not losing people to Moonsea, you are losing people to all 4 servers. You might as well say that you are losing people to Thrane or to Cormyr. Pointing only to Moonsea as the "lost to" server is not reasonable.
If the questions "are a lot of people going to moonsea?" And my response is "yeah, a lot of people from cannith are going to moonsea," I feel like that's not confusing and actually quite helpful to the OP.Your wording was odd - you are not losing people to Moonsea, you are losing people to all 4 servers. I can also say that nobody I've talked to is going to Oerick from Cannith, so I'm not actually sure we are losing people to all the 64 bit servers, and definitely not equally.
I feel like someone said "do a lot of people die from cancer?" And I said "yes, a lot of people die from cancer in the US" and you responded "that doesn't make sense. Some people die from snakes."
You can use the metric tools with Google Earth. It computes very well the curves.I can ride my bicycle to amsterdam. I'll have some of that 001 ping please and thank you.
For asians i'm pretty sure amsterdam is closer than las vegas. Got to look at an actual globe because worldmaps are incredibly inaccurate portraying real size of the northern hemisphere.
