this.

the new wayfinder, it will be cormyr. the eu server is one, the usa servers are three. that means, every player that does not want to deal with las vegas ping, has only one other option. yeah, moonsea.

the top servers will be thrane and moonsea
At this time the Wayfinder main guilds have no intention to move to the server you mentioned.

I don't think there will be any Wayfinder. I've seen several polls on Reddit and Discord, and depending on the poll, the winner was either Thrane, Moonsea, or Cormyr (probably because the participants had different demographics), but in all the polls, all the servers, including Shadowdale, had good participation. All four servers are going to be fine.

Who knows, maybe they'll even need to open another additional server like in LOTRO. I don't really think so, but all projected servers look like they'll be healthy.

That's good to know. I really don't want anyone feeling left behind or out in the cold over this. After the inevitable bedding in issues that are due to arise, the change should hopefully be a positive one for everyone over the long term. 👍

I am mostly worried about folks who are on a DDO break coming back to this surprise of an announcement :D

But hope the fact that there's a new expansion coming will mean that even folks on break will pop over in time to pack while 32bits still open normally.

Our entire guild, consisting for 100% of European players, is still considering moving either to Thrane, because that server is bound to end up with the biggest population, or to Moonsea because the busiest time-zone will be better.

We don't really care about ping. We've survived 14 years on US-based servers, didn't we?

That said, it is a solo guild.

I hope that when the 32-b worlds close in September, it will still be possible to create characters, because it will probably be necessary in this big move for people who haven't moved yet.

Can you tell us what the intentions/thoughts/preferences are that you’ve heard so far?
Monitor DDO audit when the servers come up to get us statics to make a final deceision 2 weeks after transfers begin to announce the name of the US server we will move to.

I came from Cannith (you know that if you remember). As European is a lonely server, I'm at my 104th TR, I would enjoy someone to play with. Wanna speak about end-game? I always have to consider that my build must be capable to solo high skulls quests, coz probably I'll not find anybody, still missing tons of threads coz I struggle to run raids. I'm in the most active (and probably the only one active) of the server, but when I play everybody sleep.
Honestly I don't care about lag, or "new server" or whatever, the only thing that I care is to fill a party.

I’ve seen a lot of threads about server choices, but I wanted to create one focused specifically on Moonsea, to get a rough sense of how big and active its community might be, both at launch and in the long run.
It's one of the great unknowns.

The first Euro-LOTRO 64-bit server Orcrist ended up being not just swamped but overran, in that more players wanted to log in than the server could handle.

SSG have no doubt learned from that particular disaster ; but the truth is that nobody can possibly predict the real impact of how many inactive players will return to the game for the 64-bit, exactly how many tertiary toons on secondary accounts there actually are, and so on and so forth.

I personally think they'll be forced to open a second EU server -- because it's not just players in Europe itself but those across all of Eurasia (including the Koreans), Africa, and Australia who might prefer Amsterdam to Las Vegas -- but then I could be wrong about that as these are all still complete unknowns.

If they ARE forced to open a second EU server, well I DO very much hope that turnaround will be quicker for DDO than it was for LOTRO ...

OTOH I'd guess that the three US servers will be enough.

--------

BTW as to my personal latency ; well I am in a very unusual situation, in that I am on the French Riviera except with a pretty much direct internet connection to Florida, so that latency is pretty much identical for me whether it's New Jersey, Las Vegas, or Amsterdam. But I'm still moving everything to Moonsea, except that I'll put most of my overflow into Cormyr, and assure a presence on both Thrane and Shadowdale ...

Apparently, looks like Moonsea server will be slower ping for Asia including Philippines, China, Korea.
As much as the timezone would be nicer for us Asians, it's a shame about the latency.
