EU Moonsea Server – Will it have a strong playerbase?

Apparently, looks like Moonsea server will be slower ping for Asia including Philippines, China, Korea.
As much as the timezone would be nicer for us Asians, it's a shame about the latency.
Probably best to try it out with a dummy toon on the Moonsea and a WC server once they're up then go from there. You should have time as I doubt everyone will move on Day 0. The difference may be small enough not to matter.

Just tested in LOTRO Eu server: .292 ms
Sarlona: .222 ms
Cormyr: 1.58 ms

China and SE Asia getting slower pings from Wondernetwork.com also.

It will happen, probably lfm's will go up and filled in the blink of an eye
I certainly hope so, currently on Thelanis it's luck of the draw. Sometimes I can fill a LFM within minutes, sometimes it takes hours.

Even at US pre-prime time, 10pm-12am CET, I have sometimes waited 2 hours for any members (alt tabbed doing something else, waiting for "dings"). Because a raid train that I just missed plus a reaper saga train can take almost all of the lvl cap population and will last a long time.

And leveling often just has too few people on with the tight lvl ranges, so if everyone on already did your quest then nobody will join.

It's one of the great unknowns.

The first Euro-LOTRO 64-bit server Orcrist ended up being not just swamped but overran, in that more players wanted to log in than the server could handle.

SSG have no doubt learned from that particular disaster ; but the truth is that nobody can possibly predict the real impact of how many inactive players will return to the game for the 64-bit, exactly how many tertiary toons on secondary accounts there actually are, and so on and so forth.

I personally think they'll be forced to open a second EU server -- because it's not just players in Europe itself but those across all of Eurasia (including the Koreans), Africa, and Australia who might prefer Amsterdam to Las Vegas -- but then I could be wrong about that as these are all still complete unknowns.

If they ARE forced to open a second EU server, well I DO very much hope that turnaround will be quicker for DDO than it was for LOTRO ...

OTOH I'd guess that the three US servers will be enough.

--------

BTW as to my personal latency ; well I am in a very unusual situation, in that I am on the French Riviera except with a pretty much direct internet connection to Florida, so that latency is pretty much identical for me whether it's New Jersey, Las Vegas, or Amsterdam. But I'm still moving everything to Moonsea, except that I'll put most of my overflow into Cormyr, and assure a presence on both Thrane and Shadowdale ...
The largest poll (on DDO reddit) indicates that the population will be fairly equal on all 4 servers and Cormyr will be the largest one. Time will tell....

At this time the Wayfinder main guilds have no intention to move to the server you mentioned.

well, maybe it's not a nice thing to do, but when i said "Cormyr will be the new Wayfinder" i was using "Wayfinder" not as the server itself, but as a common-ish way to intend "empty server". sorry for the confusion.

I have started playing on the German server Dorn back in the day...then Devourer, Ghallanda and now Orien. I have lost touch with many people over the years (obviously many people just quit) and hope that I will meet some of my old guildies from another time back on Moonsea.

I'm playing quite a bit in the mornings and am a bit worried if there will be players on at that time.
going to miss you bro :(

seeing how not many players even read the froums . this poll mean nothing till it happens

Until what happens? Servers actually opening up or?

And I mean poll reflects some folks current thoughts about transfers, same as many discussions on different platforms ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm glad it looks like a fairly even split there - which hopefully means we will have 4 active servers all together :)
