A guildy wanted to level up a crafter on an alt account.
Getting 50 House Cannith favor gives you access to unlimited 10% boosters for a small amount of platinum in addition to the Mark of House Cannith that lets you add the extra slot on level 10+ items.
The character was level 29 from minimal breaking down items for essences. This is an insignificant amount of xp so it wouldn't really be much different from someone leveling 0 to 400.
I estimated 200k essences to get to 390 and it ended up taking a bit more than that. They also used 2 xp potions instead of 1 (when using store boosters) because the process just takes longer this way and we were mathing out the essence cost/xp gains during the process to figure out the best approach.
The conclusion is that you need to approach it differently than someone using store items (35% success boosters and 100% crafting xp potions)
Using the 10% success booster at 3% is still worth because the xp gain is so incredible and you are quadrupling your chance to succeed with the booster. However, once you succeed at 3% it's best to move to a recipe with better than 50% as the lower chance recipes at 26% for example will end up costing you more essences for the same xp gain. Here are the results:
Level 121: 5,142 essences
Level 200: 25, 565 essences
Level 270: 81,297 essences
Level 300: 101,671 essences
Level 341: 150,056 essences (significant as this is where you swap over to the unbound machine for min level shards)
Level 381: 204, 301 essences (significant as this is where you have at least a 3% on every bound recipe including the new 425s)
Level 398: 244, 497 essences
Level 402: 250,077 (at this point more xp is possible, but it doesn't seem worth it. You have a 23% chance at level 425 recipes)
Since RNG is involved your experience may require less/more essences. This is just from one test case.

Ways to get better results
- Get as many 25% boosters from your alts/bank characters and pass through the crafting bank to your crafter (40 characters equals 200 25% boosters which can be used on the 3% recipes
- Wait for a crafting bonus weekend
- You can spend about 1500 points in the DDO store to buy 200 35% success boosters and 1 100% crafting xp potion to significantly reduce the # of essences needed - 50-60k essences vs 250k.
