Extend transfer time through September

Dear Devs,

I'm a long time regular player, but have planned an extended trip leaving July 5 and not returning until September 5. [...]

Thank you for re-considering your timeline.
Going for a two months World/Polar/Greenland cruise? You can still access the internet when at port(s) for free. I don't think the transfers take much bandwidth since its just login to each character, run /pack, logout each character, click [TRANSFER], select origination server, select ALL characters. Select destination [Cormyr],[Oerik],[Thrane] or [Moonsea], Then hit complete done button. Run /unpack on each character when you get back home September 5th. Unless you are going to the moon, Mars or International Space Station, I can't imagine any country on earth that doesn't have internet, even low bandwidth. Even the safari herders in Kenya have internet in remote Africa.

As for a lightweight gaming computer on the boat/plane/remote, consider the ROG Ally X... a DDO gaming handheld on your palms.

Certainly not the answer I was hoping for. That said, as long as we're only talking a couple days I can live, if we're talking a month I'm going to be pretty upset. I'm going to be in enough of DDO withdrawl without waiting another extended time. Also, I'm also assuming (although it wasn't specifically stated) that the transfers from the "ghost worlds" will also be free of charge in the same manner as the initial 6 week transfer will be?
Yes, transfers from these closing worlds will be free.
I'm not very familiar with behind-the-scenes, but if you can't keep them extended, how can you return them at a later date as a ghost world?

I hope that the downtime isn't long and players who aren't going to be able to log on from July to September will be able to access them very shortly after returning.
The timing isn't known, but will be once we get things set up again.

Can we, please, get more info about what will be possible to do on those ghost servers ?
Will it be just "log-in /pack" or would we be able, for example, access guild storage, take items from them and distribute it between character to /pack and transfer after ?

Even if you can access the internet, that's not the kind of thing you want to do with an unstable connection where data loss may occur.

This is so far from being the truth.

Actually it is true. My Starlink has provided great service even when i am literally 100+ miles from any place :). And yes DDO plays great on it. Works on land/sea/air. I even use discord for comms and the wife is uaully streaming her shows and playing her online games when we travel. Very nice.

The issue there is that it is unclear so far what the time gap will be between the shut down and bringing up the ghost servers at the new DC

Well, you are mostly welcomed to test your Internet in North Korea... 🤣
Honestly, if you can get access to your internet in the neighborhood around your house, it doesn't meat everyone has the same situation all around the globe.

Although it was 12 years ago what I could connect to from China was limited, I don't recall if I tried to play DDO while I was there.

The goal is to have access to anything necessary to prepare for transfer. Further progress on the game world will be strictly gated. Think of it like a variation on what you see when you die in Hardcore, if you could access your stuff.
