I'm of the opinion that if you're enjoying the build then take it to cap, if it's a build you're not enjoying so much then TR as soon as possible and try another build. Some builds can also really change how they feel once epic destiny abilities get mixed in too.

i like to double down on Epic TR each heroic life. (unless the build sucked or was not fun)

Lots of good power creep in Epic TR and its fast if you XP gem the sagas you did> you'll be lvl 22-24 depending on your XP pot you used 1st, right out of the gate

So my bard problems might just be a gear issue, and folk have been telling me about the greatness that is masterminds and their melee gear (or vecna) So maybe I need to revisit this build then and just get out ASAP?

Either way, I'm fuffing about with it on strema right now.

One level away from 20! (First time epic levels maybe today?)
- Now do I push for 20 and TR after farming up tokens since the build isn't really performing as well.
- Or do I push for 30, aim to get my very first Epic TR and hope destiny and gear will turn this frown upside down.

its good to be familiar with the trees, but I suggest checking Build section of the Forum and see what players with similar builds are choosing in those destiny trees. Same w enhancements/ the experts know what works>because a few things may be bugged still out there, and worthless to choose

Yeah I think I'm going with Crusader / Fate singer / Shadow Dancer
Or was, I'm actually going to be TR3'ing I thing.
I can't deal with how tough it is for me to get anything done without a team, I need to lock in some real gear

for epic TR Saltmarsh stuff upgrades to lvl 20 if you have that pack. Old school is Von raid items, desert sands heroic stuff can be made into lvl 20 and spinner shadows chain stuff gets lvl 20 epic upgrade too.

but Saltmarsh should require far less farming for mats to upgrayedd a nice 5 piece set for epic TR ing.

no rush.. players can it with 1st life equipment, >it gets really fun as you learn how to avoid and mitigate damage, your toon becomes much more effective by default.

sidestep those fireballs and arrows! devs sped up archer enemies a little..gottsa be quick now :)

Don't have saltmarsh sadly. If I had access to more expansions I'd be farming Masterminds, some real nice stuff in there, or vecna with the familiy set.

You should give a try to quick cutter. It's the saviour of otherwise unpleasant martial builds.

Other than that, there are other good sources of epic gear - upgraded Demon Sands gear, upgraded Red Fens gear are all good - as are Borderlands gear - if you have access to those. Farming some of these out while at lvl 20 might not be a bad idea.

Doing Chronoscope with some folks and getting a Gem of Many Facets => Upgrade to Epic => Reroll it as many times as you need to hit Windlasher / Raven's Eye / Vulkoor's Might / whatever you need that fits your other gear you've found - is also a big help in low Epics.
