As it stands, Both Bane and Favored Enemy are kind of a niche techincal concept of the battle system. It's "nice to have", but not effective enough for anyone to worry about it too much compared to other bonuses.
I believe it would add a nice colour if they could compliment one another, and I'm fairly certain it isn't too drastic to become overpowered.
One mechanism I had in mind (may be a bit underpowered as is):
Your weapon's bane damage dice are increased by your Favoured Enemy damage bonus if the types match, or a half if there is no match.
Example:
+8 Favoured Enemy damage from 4 different (any) Favoured Enemy feats,
+5 Favoured Enemy damage from enhancements (total of +13)
An Undead Bane weapon (2d6 bane damage to undead) will gain +13 die size if Favoured Enemy: Undead exists, to a total of 2d19, or +6 die size if it doesn't, to a total of 2d12.
Another mechanism I had in mind:
Your weapon's bane damage dice are quantified by half your Favoured Enemy damage bonus if the types match, or a quarter id they don't.
Example:
Same props as the previous example; the Undead Bane weapon will be 12d6 (13/2 times the base 2) if the exact Favoured Enemy feat exists, or 6d6 (13/4 times 2) otherwise.
I suppose you can add Melee Power to the equasion as well if it seems right. Personally I dislike the whole concept of "Melee Power", but it exists already, so....
Balance to be determined, but either way, just have in mind that the current benefits of bane effects and Favoured Enemy feats as it stands are barely noticable, at least in my view, and is worthy of some love.
