Fey event Hyrsam buff

Hyrsam went from initially being purple to blue to green and just hit gold on Shadowdale. He's now giving out his buff, which is 20% sonic absorption. So that's what the other servers get to look forward to.

That's a shame, I was hoping something bigger than that would happen or something would happen with them 3 gates behind the NPCs in the Hut from Beyond.

Yep got the buff earlier while running around Lamordia wilderness. I was also wondering if other servers also got this or is there some threshold.

I can do things others can't...
So, I guess the question would be, is it a permanent buff forever more on each server? Or just until the event finishes?

Because 20% Sonic Absorb can certainly help when in Skeletons or Hunt runs - it won't help in every circumstance, but it could be the difference for those caught just outside against a Roar for example, letting the player live just long enough to get to safety vs falling and waiting on the timer to get a raise.

According to the initial official announcement and guide:

"Once your game world has succeeded in bringing Hyrsam out of danger the entire game world will receive a buff for the remaining duration of the Symphony of the Fey event! "

the tooltip in the screenshot in the op also states the effect will expire when the event is over.

They definitely could have done something different; slightly disappointed but it was a free buff that was going to get attained along the way regardless, so that's better than nothing..?

Sooo we can...go farm T rex and bard mobs now? Face tank a vrock? Which mobs have enough sonic damage to matter?

20% sonic is not bad at all. Time to look the screaming dinos in the eye and walk it off.

But it is a bland thing. Random songs or music bonuses similarly to the Scion of Limbo coulda been more thematically interesting.

Nice. I think we need more event buffs like this. 20% is not noticeable but it's a nice thing to have, especially against certain yelling dinos. Give 20% cold in risia or 20% negative in mabar?

Bring back the dancing succubi and let them give buffs. Maybe more NPCs like the acrobat in marketplace or the water breathing npc in 3BC.

No, it shouldn't be a widespread practice. If they start adding damage absorption everywhere, NPC damage will increase, creating more imbalances. It's better to leave this as a one-off thing. There are many types of rewards that can be implemented on a case-by-case basis.

Besides, negative absorption will surely hurt undead characters; we've already seen what happens with lifesealed items in-game.

Better not to mess with this.

I think the buff is okay, but we can't expect too much. I'd like to see some kind of final event, some epic showdown against the organizers, but I'm afraid there won't be anything like that. And it's unlikely there will be, with people so reactionary towards any new addition to the game. Even though every game has events, and they're much cooler than the ones we've historically had in DDO.

I think it's good that the devs are starting to think about adding these kinds of things, which add character and novelty to the game.

And it would be even better if they started to break out of their rigid mindset of permadeath and new characters. Create events that encourage grouping instead of discouraging it, that allow players to use their usual characters, that are more than just a grind! This year's event wasn't bad, but keep exploring, devs, what can be improved for future years.

I would have given some temporary boon directed to killing corrupted fey creatures, but that might be too messy to code.
Other options—temporary loot +10 in Feywild quests; new monster manual creatures added to various manuals (Fey I guess); some new rare named items that could drop in feytwisted chests, etc.

I know these suggestions require the Feywild pack so not perfect
