Final Fate of Cormyr Characters?

1) We can copy our mains to cormyr and do the lantern thingie with them
2) Eventually we will also copy our mains to the new megaservers
3) Can we also copy our Cormyr-main-copies to the new megaservers?

Or

4) Cormyr is a final resting place for any copies placed there and we cannot transfer them (along with loot or anything found there) off there?

I think the answer has to be 4, but I wanted to verify.

Cormyr in its current state functions more or less like Lammania, in that you can copy characters there for testing and preview purposes.

When it goes live, you will not be able to transfer any characters there, but you will need to make new ones specific to that server. Character copying to Live servers does not exist, not to Cormyr nor to any of the current Live servers.

3) We might be able to transfer toons from 32-bit servers to Cormyr at some point, but initially I would doubt that transfers from Cormyr to other 64-bit servers will be available, at least during the 64-bit servers launch period.

4) Perhaps eventually paid transfers from Cormyr to other 64-bit servers might become available ?

The current version is just a test server. It'll get wiped before it goes live. So anything you do there is just for test purposes.

Noob Cormyr question but... are people really expected to be chill with losing their main's progress just for the 64 bit experience? Have the devs ever mentioned an official transfer / copy process for Cormyr when it goes live?

Edit: I understand now that in the future, other 64-bit servers may allow character copy / transfer.

I think that's the draw of the lanterns event. You get HC-season type rewards using OP characters, but no bank toon on the back end

From what they've said: No transfers to Cormyr. It's a fresh start server. If it goes well, then they'll add other 64-bit servers down the line that people can xfer to.

Cormyr is currently a test server and you can't progress on it (at least not in the sense that it's permanent and available on other servers). Once it goes live the server will be wiped and everyone will have to start new characters to be able to take part in the event.

Ah ok so this isn't like, a permanent megaserver solution yet
Correct. SSG wants to have full character transfer support before they launch replacement servers. Currently only a very limited part of your characters transfers over and some of that is broken (eg the monster manuals).

Wait, what? If this is another bait and switch, I'm done before I started.

There are no OP characters on live Cormyr. It will be wiped before going live. Fresh L1 server with VIP-only and the Lantern event. The no-bank mule afterwards is correct from my understanding; ie. no free transfer off once the event is done.

Lack of exit transfer is probably the biggest reason I won't be playing on Cormy. Don't care for the cosmetics, but I could use more full-favor bank mules.

Bait is the 64-bit server.
Switch is that we cannot transfer characters. Unlike all other servers . . .

YES! It has been mentioned in Fridays at Four Sept 27th that 1st they need to get Cormyr up and running. If that sevrer works they need #2 to fix issues of Monster Manual, Name Issue, Guilds, Astral shards, Mounts, Pets/Companions and other items for transfer from 32-bit servers to 64-bit servers, contingent on economics and programming. I think it was mentioned that if/when they get the general 64-bit servers up and running the transfers could/would be free. Also to nip it in the bud Cormyr is located in Las Vegas THIS DOES NOT MEAN ALL 64-BIT SERVERS WILL BE THERE! It was mentioned in Friday at Four October 4th that they may look at a Eruopean server.

They gave us a clear and detailed overview of how it would work and what it was for before even giving us a glimpse of it, this is an objectively untrue assertion. Also pretending they're being opaque when they're being *more* transparent than normal is counterproductive -_-

I think this will surely happen. Free transfers as it has been from HCL servers. This will boost player participation with an announcement before the event.

And then there's the question of Guild transfers for those of us that spent USD to get the Ship, etc... This is why it should be paid (VIP) only.

..and then there's the thing about sloppy code that 64-bit cannot help..

SSG needs to invest in DDO like they did in LoTRO. If they can't/won't, they need to let it go to folks more worthy of the DnD ideas.

Clearly, DDO FUNDED LoTRO. That's how LoTRO got 64-bit servers before DDo, even though DDO came first.

WHY? This is a sick joke, like other IRL things currently facing the USA.

IMO they started with the easier code of LoTRO to gain experience before tackling the older code of DDO. This whole process has to be done in increments and can't be done as a whole from day 1. We have already seen progress that will be coming to the live servers for specific lag fixes to a couple of the quest/raids already with the 2nd preview on Cormyr. They were able to make those fixes in just a week after being able to see them. Once Cormyr goes live the reports from there will be fueling fixes for the 32-bit servers also.

I really wish they hadn't blown thru so many people. Coding is art and SSG is murdering it (in a bad way.)

Our community is fractured; we have no Arthmoor doing fixes 'for free.'

We just have trolls that TALK ABOUT PROFIT over Bug fixes because it's a FOR PROFIT entity that owns this game.

**And it's spawn. 😞
