First Life Blight Monk Build

Looking for suggestions on how to play a melee focused, first life viable Blightcaster/Monk. Any/all suggestions and ideas are greatly appreciated!

If you like dog-form, I did a really fun 13 druid 6 figher 1 monk build with normal druid not long after the epic destiny changes. I'm sure its transferable to blight-dog, I went t5 and core 3 in kensei for the crit profile and melee power, and split the rest of my points between dog tree and falconry for wisdom stuff. I did an iconic, but for leveling I would go 8 druid, 6 fighter, and then the rest of your levels.

I'm actually thinking more along the lines of Henshin Mystic tree with Qstaves and using Thorn-Kin Wild Shape and Death Eater from the Blight Caster tree

My first thought was Blightcaster 13 / monk 6 / Favored Soul 1: handwraps, tier-5 Shintao, WIS-based with Stunning Fist, Divine Will from Warsoul, Thorn Knight form. For a staff build, I guess swap FvS for rogue so you can take Acrobatics (+15% attack speed); maybe DEX-based and grab No Step Missed from Horizon Walker.

With WIS to hit and damage and a trance by lvl 3 Monk/DD why go dex? I've been thinking of a pure DD qstaff build with 41 AP into Shintao which bags you +3[W]. Trailblazer would be my number one choice.

Trance works but you cant take the cores that give the +W with blight levels

Henshin is still generally better than Shintao for sticks, especially as a splash.

Also, the 1 rogue level is kind of unnecessry IMO, unless you really want to trap. Would probably just grab another BC lever for some extra spell slots.

I fail to see the draw in this build.
Pure blightcaster is great, pure monk is great.
Going halfsies in both seems rather awful.
What gets you excited to try this?

Since the recent Monk tree pass, there's no need to splash rogue for Qstaves. You can get the same bonus in T1 Henshin now.

Yes that's what happens when you quote a post that's more than 2 years old; sometimes the advice is obsolete. I don't even know why this thread got bumped!

I've seen the Trailblazer build it looks good.
I don't remember why I went dex on my DL version, for traps maybe... I did go shintao... When I hit epics it started slowing down... He was getting hit a lot... So TRd and did the DD version.

I like Monk play style.
Knocks out the Druid TRs.
Using Monk and Rogue Qstaff is fast and easy 16-20 crit range.
Using the Lamordia H QS triple acid
at level 8 will last you to maybe even past 15

On the DD 20
I went Wis to H/D.
It was the DL 12 Rogue 4 Monk 4
I went Dex...
I think.
