For the Love of the Game

Of course they can change the code to support that feature.
Clearly the time/cost of it's implementation was not the better option compared to simply skip the last part.

Besides, we've already have enough with items/past lives/ karma points (in the past) disappearance. Do we really need yet another opportunity to lose your gear permanently ?
I guess SSG wants me to be content with slaying orcs in the Myth Drannor wilderness.

I couldn't care less about SSG's internal issues with content development, budgetary concerns, substandard servers, and the like. What I do care about is logging into the game and having fun playing it. If SSG brings some innovation and genuine creativity into the DDO experience, so much the better. As it stands right now, the game is boring me to death.

Take some chances, SSG. This game hasn't turned a corner since Ravenloft, and that was at a time when DDO had its back to the wall. Time to roll the dice again.

Lastly, what if A4 was created? Nobody is going to play it if they don't want to. Who knows, it might end up rotting on the dung heap of SSG material no one plays, like Restless Isles or RTSO. But if they do, SSG should make the players aware of the risks involved (WARNING: THIS IS AN EXTREME CHALLENGE QUEST. YOU WILL ENTER IN THE DUNGEONS OF THE SLAVE LORDS WITH NO GEAR AND ACCESS TO YOUR INACTIVE INVENTORY WILL BE LOCKED OUT). From that point, it's all on you.

Well, SSG can say the same about your need of A4 Slavers. 😎 They don't force anyone to buy the pack.

Lastly, what if A4 was created?
It would be long forgotten by now as the 3 of existing quests.
Slave Lords quests do not fit into the XP/min philosophy.

Wow, are you saying SSG doesn't listen to their player base? Day ruined. There goes my 25 store points finder's fee.

Since you're able to see into the future, could you please ask SSG to stop creating content that sucks? Also, please ask them to allow us to stash XP earned at cap--otherwise useless--into XP gems to be used at a future date. It would knock ER leveling for a loop, but hey, it's all about speed and efficiency, right? Never mind the fact that the developers could decide a proposed A4 has one of the highest XP rewards in the game. Or do you already know the story on that as well?

Wait. When did baseball get upgrade from "game" to "sport"?
For me it is all sports movies. "For the Love of the Game" just touches many angles and stories, great movie.

Other sports movies in my top list plus or so are: (in no particular order)
  • Draft Day
  • Friday Night Lights
  • Bull Durham
  • Hoosiers
  • The Natural
  • Million Dollar Baby (I just like about everything Hilary Swank is in)
  • A League of Their Own
  • Eight Men Out
  • Bend it Like Beckham (a light movie I know)
  • Remember the Titans
  • Ride Like a Girl

This is a very good list, to which I would add "Rudy" and "Major League".

Which do you think is tops in the pay category...or top 3...asking for a friend that's looking for options. ;)
Sorry for the late response. I have not played any subscription only MMOs.

I can tell you for a fact I didn't like Throne and Liberty. The controls felt so incredibly clunky and the theme feels targeted towards a very young audience but somehow it's rated 16+? I am going to give it another shot because DDO right now between being unplayable due to lag, the expansion not being available for DDO points and vip only new servers doesn't seem to want me around.

I will definatelly give path of exile another go for sure because the base game is really good but mapping drove me nuts.

Actually the best thing to play right now is BG3. I'm wondering how long it will take them to make persistent worlds in it ala bioware's neverwinter nights. I'm also wondering if it was explicitly stated in their contract with wizards to put code in it to prevent that from happening.

My issue is the balance of risk vs reward. I don't mind things being very rare, but there has to be a means to which time spent is rewarded to a level that has meaningful return.

Personally, I would prefer the drop system to be adjusted based on difficulty and tailored for a natural progression that fits that effort put.

Admittedly I have only ran up to Reaper 5-6 from time to time with the bulk in 3-4, so I don't know if things change that much, but it seems that the difficulty to obtain things should more properly reflect the reward. Running a dungeon on extreme difficulty which takes a lot more time, effort, and is riddled with chance of failure shouldn't result in the same lack of a return that running the dungeon on an easier difficulty.

That is, basic gear drop rates should be normal up to a point (ie a percentage chance to obtain the base gear up to elite where there may not be anything dropping on a run). At some point in reapers, base gear should have a 100% drop rate for the base item with the game play at that point being the chance at getting the special enhancements.

This would allow a better ROI on the play where you know at least you will get the base item gear, but the higher difficulties may produce the coveted rare enhancements. This would aid in the player being able to progress, becoming more powerful by obtaining the base gear so they can make attempts at the more difficult content to gain the higher rewards.

As it is now, the drop rates (at least as I have seen suggested of reapers being roughly a 1% increase in drop occurrence over Elites 33%?) doesn't seem to provide a balance for this effort and that doesn't even consider the issues of RNGs and their finicky nature.

A basic idea would be lets say 33% drop for normal gear up to Elite (with a very rare chance at Mythic), then... at some point in reapers, the base gear chance becomes 100% with an increasing chance of it having Mythic up to a point where Mythic is 100% and the rare chance becomes Reaper enhancements.

With a progression like this, at least running on a VERY difficult level would garner some expected reward for the risk which flows with a natural progression of difficulty of chasing the bigger carrots.

All I can say is that at some points, the higher difficulties just seem kind of pointless for the level of reward they provide, especially considering the reality that in many cases, the min/maxing of such at its highest levels doesn't seem to produce any real major benefit other than to be able to farm a bit easier at the higher difficulties.
