Quick question or questions to you all in Linux heaven. What distro are you using and which way are you getting your game to run. I'm going to build a mini rig for Linux gaming and need some good pointers. Will be AMD based CPU,GPU and 64g ram, 8tb SSD. I'm tired of Windows systems.

I am in the process of doing a dual boot system. Was going to run Mint or Kubuntu. Probably going to mess around with both as it might just come down to aesthetic of one over the other. Both of these "should" be pretty easy to setup for DDO. ATI drivers are open source I believe so they should be included.

Ubuntu 24.04. Intel 14th gen i9. 128G RAM. I have been playing DDO through Steam (with Proton) for years, without issue. The only issue with Steam is you cant run multiple instances. I also have DDO running through a bottle with Crossover so I can run another toon or two.

Unfortunately, using DDO through Crossover results in a client with a broken Gamma which is annoying as hell. So I mainly just use Steam...that is when I used to play. I am pretty much done.

I have a Dell laptop using Fedora atomic distribution Kinioite. I can load and play DDO through Steam on it as well.

I've been using Linux mint for about a year and a half now with good gaming success. I use heroic launcher (If you have games through GOG, EPIC, or Amazon) or Steam for all my games so far. Check out https://www.protondb.com/ to see how well games are likely to run and to get tips on tweaks you may want to try if you are having issues.
