When I try to redeem the coupon, it says coupon expired? Am I doing something wrong?
It's in the name of the coupon: FREEDDO2024. It's 2025. The next coupon hasn't been made yet. It should appear sometime in a month or two.

Hoping the 2025 version of the code comes out soon didn't get back into the game till after it expired and all the people I got into the game after I came back also missed out on it too.

I doubt the new PM is going to suggest this coupon while starting to sell us quests 1 by 1 and still never fixing any bugs.

This coupon would make the PM look bad.
Spoiler alert the new vip track will suck too

I'm with you, feel forced to pay for VIP, yet i see armys of bots soloing. I'd like to spend money on expansions and account items, not on a sub just to access 300-400.00 of 15 year old content. Keep in mind I have an account with well past 1000.00 spent. But to come back and play majority of leveling content I need vip. I would like to bring 2 friends into this game. Sure they can come free as a trial, but to play serious at all they would be forced to buy vip, storage, expansion - a hefty hit. And how could I recommend come play its great - and within 5 mins they start seeing mega lag spikes. These legacy quests should be free to all.

Agreed. Old content should be made free. It is nearly impossible for a new player to reach level 20 as F2P. Most content being locked behind a paywall is preventing new players from enjoying the game. It's making them quit. No wonder most servers are empty.

Are you factoring in the packs you can buy with the points you earn as you run the free content?

I thought there was enough free content to get to 20? Or is that only when you include the free giveaway we had a while ago ?

Even if you earn some points by farming them, you have to spend them on 15 year old packs instead of other character improvements or expansions. Also it is a n extremely repetitive, exhausting and time consuming process.

Sure. You can get to 20 by repeating LoD chain over and over.... and over again. Also exhausting and boring and painful.

My point is, current game mechanics make it impossible for new and F2P players to enjoy the game. Without access to 95% or more of the content in the game, new players are not going to have a great time. Which is why most of them quit after a week or two. They realize they can't get far without paying. Also the content that they do have access to, is outdated and not appealing at all. They don't get to experience everything this game has to offer.

Paying is fine if you get a good value for your money. But it costs a fortune just to get access to all content in the game. Then you also have to buy things like bags, bank slots, character slots, tomes etc... It's unfair. The least they can do is make old content free.

[...] It's unfair [...]

(keep getting notified on these replies from last year's thread...perhaps I should just turn notify off)

Hmmm, Not quite sure why "It's unfair" when it's a business's business model to make money to run the business

they can play for free to grind out the points to "buy"/acquire the packs, or they can pay $99/year (can get a credit card that allows to split the payments over many months without extra charges) to play most of those packs (not the Expansions ) and SSG is still adding a few adventures and packs to the VIP program (not the Expansions ) such as Slice of Life, Night Brigade, Tavern Tales, etc.

for VIP they also get 500 DDO points a month ($8.25 per month if doing a year or $9.99 per month) that they can spend on bags, bank slots, character slots, etc. and during the first month of VIP they get a bonus 500 DDO points so that's 1,000 DDO points in the beginning

Not sure what's so "unfair" about this Business model, either grind it out to play for free, or help pay to keep the business going for enjoyment of all....

We can of course debate on whether the VIP is "worth it" to some people or not to some others, in some other thread

Would I like to see the Free Quest Codes return at some point? Sure

<snip> It's unfair <snip>
How? Those that have played for years earned and/or bought the content... We did so without ever having a free quest code for the vast majority of the game's existence.
I will never understand why there are those that believe they are entitled to free entertainment for themselves, at the expense of others.
Certainly, you must understand that it takes money to keep the game going?
