Frustrated and Ignored – Where Are My Sentient Weapons?

Hi everyone, I’m here to report a really frustrating and serious bug that happened to me — and it still hasn’t been resolved.


Back in early March, I was moving items around and preparing for a TR when I noticed that every single weapon with a Sentient Jewel had vanished from my bank. The only one that remained was the one equipped on my character at the time. I spent hours trying to figure out what happened. I checked every alt, every possible location — the items just disappeared.

Here’s what I lost:

  • Epic Sword of Shadows – one of the rarest and most iconic weapons in the game
  • Epic Storm
  • Epic Sceptre of Devotion

And the Sentient Jewels:

  • Dragon Jewel (8 slots unlocked, with filigrees equipped)
  • Lizardfolk Jewel (also 8 slots and filigrees)
  • Vaunt Arcane Assistant (3 slots and filigrees)

I submitted a ticket on May 10th, and I got a response on the 14th — but it was incredibly disappointing. They said the issue was forwarded to the Quality Assurance team, and that was it. I replied asking the most important question — am I going to get my items back? — and never got another reply.

Look, I love DDO. I’ve been a Dungeon Master since 2001 and seeing the books come to life on my screen was always magical. That’s why I’ve put up with all the issues — the infamous lag, the bugged ladders that’s been there so long it feels like part of the code, the countless bugs and the lack of real class balance. But this was too much.

I lost three weapons (one being a SoS) and three Sentient Jewels — two of which were from Ultimate Fan bundles. I bought all the expansions and mini-expansions of the game in the Ultimate Fan edition. And where I live, buying just one expansion costs the equivalent of half a minimum wage. That’s a massive investment! And now I feel like I wasted my money on a game that simply won’t get fixed — not because it can’t, but because the team doesn’t seem to care - about game and players.

I’m still extremely disappointed. I honestly hope things get better, but deep down, I’ve lost hope.

Hey man I know it sucks and I hope you really do get the help that your asking, or at least an answer. It's best to provide photo evidence when you can; either here in this thread or in your support ticket. It a ****** feeling to sit around and wait for service when your basically having a panic attack and hoping your might get the stuff you lost, I have personally been there. Luckily my patience was rewarded. I hope yours will be as well. Best of luck man.

Also to check you put in a support ticket not report a bug (the latter doesn't ever get any active response, just goes into a list of Things To Look At Someday).
^ this. It having been sent to QA makes it sound like it might have been put in as a bug report.

After I sent a new ticket, I was contacted by GM Rob Smith, who was extremely attentive and helpful. He spent several days communicating with me and went above and beyond to track down all my missing items (even before 2023 transfer). In the end, he managed to find everything and placed them back into my bank.


I’m incredibly happy and relieved to have my items back.

Hmm this needs to be documented. It seems there is a clear difference in handling bugs vs support requests.
They do not internally decide what is what but the handle things as reported.
Which makes sense, but it is not 100% clear

Did you find out what happened to them? Curious if it was accidentally sold, or if the ML got messed up and you were looking for lv 20+ stuff or if they just got lost from the cache or something.

I really don't know and tbh I didn't bother to ask. I guess they couldn't be sold accidentally, because they were locked.
