Funny Stuff in DDO

So yesterday I was on a lower level toon (not my main) and was trying to do Elite level on all the Korthos quests. I picked up a hire to help out on Misery's Peak. I decided on a spell caster (I think I had the Wizard, but might have been the Sorcerer). Well, the hire was anything *BUT* helpful. It kept casting Grease at every opportunity. I made my saves most of the time, but it still slowed my movement down. The funny thing about it was that the hire wasn't making its saves, and kept falling down. Also the Grease spell was affecting me even when I wasn't in an area covered by the Greased effect (this even happened when I was up on an ice ledge, and the hire was below).

Also in the Misery's Peak quest, my hire cast Grease immediately on the Cannith Crystal when the quest got to the point where you are supposed to destroy it. I had a really good laugh at that! :D

I also did the quest in the Cannith Manufactury. I failed the first time. I was fine, but Hayton died. I still had full HP when the quest booted me out, but as soon as I was outside the Cannith Manufactury, my HP went negative and I died for no apparent reason.

Anyway, I'm not complaining about any of this - I just found both instances funny and had a good laugh. I hope you all get a good laugh at it too.

Grease is the fun spell. Our guild had a funny man that liked to cast grease on the party at the worse times. He would make sure that he was the first one out of the cave on Tempest Spine. So the next players would come full speed out the door and many times shoot over the edge. he also liked to lube the ramping paths, especially the ones that would feed traps. Funny to all expect those that went flying.

Solution to your problem, examine the spells that the hire can cast prior to purchase. I avoid the greasy ones and the spell spammers that will soon become useless.

Not all hirelings are equal. A recent interview with... Severlin I think... made that clear when he said just that and mentioned that this is as the devs intended. I find that most times the favored souls will at least do well and sometimes they are absolutely the best.

Hahaha that is hilarious.

There are a couple FVS hirelings in late heroics that are just *monsters* for some reason hahaha. Like, really good casting. Surprisingly useful. Cometfall and stuff like that.

Also, just a PSA on the new forums for all who read this - YOU CAN GET DDOOR from the lvl 11 *fighter* hireling. Yes.

FVS hires are decent, but they burn their SP way too fast

Trigger Finger Larafay comes to mind.

"I hired you to heal me, Favored Soul"
"I didn't ask you if you were wounded, I said *I* *CAST* *DESTRUCTION*!"

Those things happen sometimes when you're beating off sahaughin.
You need grease to go with Sushi. The good belly sushi always have grease. Just ask Jeets, the bacon lover. Yeah, he loves a big fat piece of grease to go whenever he has sushi too. ;)
